The Switch is very dominant this month, and I am loving it. It makes the NPD top 10 look like a core gamers list to play for the year

It's usually the same tired arguments whenever a Nintendo game sells well. If i were to call out what the comment really is I'd likely be banned however

I mean, there's gotta be a reason GTA V is also a mainstay on the charts for this long, too, right?

BoTW was a huge selling point for the Switch even though it also released on Wii U. It just so happens that BoTW continues to remain a selling point and its partly due to the fact that its an incredible game to play even after 2+ years. People are still experimenting and finding unique things to do in the game to this day. It goes to show how much people have grown attached to the game. When you have a game that manages to remain among the top sellers for multiple years, you know you have something pretty special.
