Forums - Sony Discussion - Would you buy a PS4 Portable ?

One concern(despite the hardware unfeasibility) is the storage.
Games are very big, 50 gb+. The storage has to be gigantic. And also, it might be digital only.

If they manage to put a ps4 in a small device, with a big storage for 300$, I'd gladly get one. But seems totally unfeasible for the price and technology.

Nope, To me video games are the relationship I have with them through my TV. I don't understand why people absolutely need to be able to move around and game in the street and other such places where you risk rain, cold, thieves, an accident should you look at your screen, cross a street not paying attention to traffic etc.

If I ever got a PS4 Portable, I'd end up using it at home ONLY so I'm simply not getting one

I'm the same tbh. The only time I find a portable console really handy is when I'm going away on vacation. Then it's just easier to pack a handheld for gaming while i'm away cause it's so much smaller. But I never play games when I'm out of the house.

I never used my DS, 3DS, PSP or Vita while I was out.

Originally I bought a New 3DS XL for mobile gaming. Except I just never took it with me... So I thought I would keep it for the Nintendo 64 remasters and sold my Nintendo 64... Except I stopped playing those games entirely as the small, low-resolution display just didn't do it for me...
So sold that and got a WiiU instead... But now I have the WiiU plugged into power in a central location in my home not attached to any displays and do everything from the gamepad so I can game in bed, games room, outside on the front porch during summer or on the couch.

In short. When it comes to Nintendo consoles... Apparently I don't know what I want. - But at-least with the Hybrid consoles like the WiiU and Switch you sort-of have an option.

Honestly, at the end of the day I would rather just take my laptop with me and play Overwatch if I am traveling... At-least then I am also not restricted to just  gaming.

Yes. 60 percent of my Switch games are third party indies, which in essence is similar to the Vita. The updated trophy support would be nice and superior online.

Yes I would. I don't have a switch anymore but I loved being able to play games at home and then continue the adventure at work during my lunch. It wouldn't be good for all games but I play a lot of JRPGs and it would be just fine for that.

I can do something similar with Steam because I use my laptop at work which can handle a lot of the JRPGs I play and the save file is sync'd online.

It all depends on how much you travel. In my previous job, I was doing 9 to 5, always at the same location and I couldn't care less about portability. Now, in my current job, I'm travelling all across the province, staying overnight away from home, I also often fly to and back from Quebec city during the same day and I love the portability aspect of the Switch because of it. So it's not about walking down the street playing a game but filling all those usually boring moments with gaming which is not possible with a home console.
