Damn.. the 2d mode looks amazing 

Additional New Features

Party members will follow you on the field.

You can talk directly to party members without opening the menu

You can change the music from Orchestra to Synthesizer at any point by going to the sound settings in the menu.

You can switch between voice languages (English/Japanese)

You can dash with the ZR button.

By using the new “Horse Bell” item, you can call your horse at any time.

You can now gain experience points when your horse knocks away an enemy on the field.

You can change the battle speed to “Normal,” “Fast,” or “Really Fast.”

The quests from the 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI in which you visit the worlds of past Dragon Quest titles will be included in the Switch version, but not without changes.

Photo Mode added

Voice Drama

Newly added party member dialogue

Voice support for all party member dialogue

Ability to skip cutscenes the first time around

Random encounters is a big no for me, while exploring getting some special items the last thing you want is getting into a fight every 15 seconds.






Seriously looking like a contender for best game of all time IMO. Can't wait for this to release.

? There are no random encounters.

Game is not as great as it seems though, just thought I would throw that out there. Perhaps I'll try again on PC this time.

I usually love 2D sprite focused games, but I feel like it would be a shame to play this game in the 2D mode, instead of the 3D one.



I’ll be double dipping on this one! Never got all the way through it, I’ll definitely get through it on the go!



Passed on the PS4 version specifically to play this on the go. Cannot wait to finally play it!

In Dragon Quest VIII you got an ability during the progress of the game to disable encounters. I bet they included this function also in DQ XI.

In the 2D Mode you can't see your enemies so they re introduce random encounters. I platinumed DQXI and I remember I had to defeat some certain enemies in certain conditions in a certain region.  The idea to do those in 2D with random encounters seems like an horrible experience.
