Forums - Gaming Discussion - Best FPS game of the 2000s

We did the 90s, we did the 2010s, now for the grand finale; arguably the decade where the FPS genre was at its most dominant and innovative.

What first person shooter released in 2000-2009 do you think was the best, and why?

Halo: Combat Evolved was the big one. Either that or Modern Warfare.

I consider both Games of their Generation.

Your time zone is quite distant.

Edit: alright, let's make this post half-decent...ish. I've never been big on FPS games, so it's hard for me to have much of a say here. I just posted because I thought it was funny how Curl always shows up when the whole place is dead anyways, the only FPS I can recall really enjoying was F.E.A.R., so I suppose it'd be that one. But it's really not my genre.

Nothing wrong with his timezone

OT: Bioshock was 2007 and would be a major contender.

Call of Duty. The original one.

There were so many good shooters during that era, but Halo games are the most enjoyable to replay.

There is a reason PC users have been port begging since the Halo 1 hit the PC.

Cannot go past Halo. COD MW would be close.

If we'd said HL2 the thread would have ended prematurely.

Call of duty 2, last true call of duty without additional nonsense and
Or indeed halo for the option to connect 2 xboxes and play with 8 people

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Unreal Tournament 2004, still one of the finest online shooters ever made IMO.

Followed closely by Timesplitters 2. We used to have 8 player matches, 2 PS2's connected via a link cable, sofa's back to back and did 4 vs 4. Amazing stuff.
