Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan Sales week 18, Apr 29 - May 05 2019, Famitsu + Dengeki

I can't be the only one surprised as to how well Japan has took to Days Gone.
I wonder how it makes the developer feel to get very middling reviews but incredible sales?
Also, the PS4 is still outpacing the PS3 in Japan. The only console under-performing is the Xbox One.

Around the Network

Breath of the Wild returns to the top 10 and Kingdom Hearts 3 to the top 20

Switch software killin' it

Hardware sales are underwhelming.

27 Switch titles and 28 Nintendo titles in the top 30.

What is the record for the most dominated top 30?

For a company/single System

Actually 23 switch titles and 24 Nintendo console titles (other publishers also have their games on the list for switch). But don't worry, we're about to reach an era where even all the top 30 are switch. Maybe in June or July.

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

The switch is the only console left standing in Japan with actually decent sales. And it's crossed the PS4 so it's gonna be all switch for at least a year and a half

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate still going strong.

Kirby back to the list.

Days Gone did good too.

Labo VR seems to be doing fine too, considering how the previous kits performed.

Around the Network

And Breath of the Wild pass the 1.3m mark a second time!

I mean golden week is still a thing (as the 50 percent hardware and over 100 percent software buff on ninty titles show) but it's nowhere near it's prime

It's not clear from the first two posts, but I think this is the week that Switch passes PS4 in total sales.

up to April 282019 (Famitsu)

Switch 8,042,166
PS4 8,047,754

April 29 - May 5 (Dengeki)

Switch 52,171
PS4 21,448

If you add those numbers together you get this

Switch 8,094,337
PS4 8,069,202

Of course these are from two different sources.  Don't know if anyone has the lifetime Dengeki numbers up to April 28, 2019.

Exactly this, there is still some movement this week each year but Japan seems to move to christmas more and more.
