Forums - Gaming Discussion - Saints Row announcement teased by Deep Silver

It has been over 4 years since the last Saints Row game, Gat out of Hell. Agents of Mayhem was developed primarily by a B-team of new hires at Volition, the team that made Saints Row 4 and Gat out of Hell has presumably been hard at work on the next Saints Row since early 2015. So yeah, the game should be mostly done now, good time to announce it. I suspect it will be a cross-gen game on a new engine since it has been in development so long now.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I don't think that's the case. The tweet teases announcements, and the Switch port was announced awhile back and just released today. Also, there's the fact that the main team at Volition, the Saints Row team, hasn't released a game since 2015. Agents of Mayhem was developed by 100 newly hired developers that Volition hired with a tax grant from the city, not by the Saints Row team. Saints Row team has clearly been working on something for the last 4 years. I suspect they developed a new engine, since the engine they used for Saints Row 4 and Gat out of Hell was a last-gen engine, and plan to release the game in early 2020 on XB1/PS4/PC and late 2020 on PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's a remake of one of the previous games.

That said, if it's a new game, I hope they put more effort in it and manage to beat Sains Row The Third (for me, the best one).

Honestly though, it was the best one. Saints Row IV got boring once you had all the powers and you were pretty much invincible. I never played the second SR so I can't criticise that, but the first one was alright. No Professor Genki's magically appearing in it ): I never finished Gat out of Hell because it was lame when I started playing it. It didn't appeal to me like SR3 did, never kept my interest. I also missed the creativity of making your own character.

If there is a new game, I want more challenges involving Professor Genki, hands down. But I don't think there will be a new game to be honest.

Strangely, you were more invincible in the 3rd game, as you could actually upgrade yourself to being immune to all damage, something you couldn't do in the 4th one. Again, strange since in the 4th you were basically in the Matrix, so should have been able to become invincible. But, yea, while I loved the 4th and GOOH, I want something closer to the 3rd, including being able to pay a shit ton of money to become invincible.

Better be a new game and not some remaster, or old port on Switch.

NEW GAME. I've waited too long for this.

Saints Row 2 improved on every aspect over the first one. And yeah, The Third, with the new and bigger city and still some proper effort in the story and a good variety of missions, cars and weapons, was the best of the series by far.

SR IV was entertaining until you got bored with the superpowers and Gat out of Hell, while still fun to play, suffered from a lack of ideas and an engine that was too old.

Thankfully, it's been a while since the last one, so hopefully they've used it to make a game that surpassed them all.

With no GTA coming for a good while, it would makes sense for them to try and get a new Saints Row out in the coming year or 2. With The Third coming to Switch, it looks like they are interested in porting what ever this new one is to the Switch, so this should be an exciting reveal. I just hope they don't release this new one as a buggy mess like The Third is on Switch.

Y'all are crazy. SR4 was the best. Gameplay was great, best super powered gameplay in any game to date. Zinyak was a contender for best video game villain that year. The comedy was on point. I hope we get a proper SR5 that follows up SR4 with the time travel plotline that was mentioned in the epilogue.
