Forums - Nintendo Discussion - DiC Entertainment's Scrapped Metroid Cartoon

An estate sale from a former DiC Entertainment employee just uncovered promo art for scrapped Nintendo cartoons, one of which was Metroid.

I don't know why the idea was to make Samus a man for the cartoon, but thankfully it never got greenlit. In all honesty it would've been even worse than their Street Fighter cartoon.

Must have been meant to be made in the late 1980s when it was still largely unknown that Samus Aran is a woman.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

That actually makes sense when you think about it.

Samus must of had a sex change from male to female.  "She" might still be packing some heat if you notice there is ample room in her suit.

To be fair, this was the studio that did Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and we know what came from that show.

Nowadays Samus' gender is a bit more obvious, for two reasons.

1. Her suit has a more curvy design as of Super Smash Bros. Melee.

2. Well, you know.

To DiC's credit, the manual for the original Metroid referred to Samus as "he", and that was either a typo or just there to keep her gender a secret.

Hence the Street Fighter cartoon I mentioned earlier, but that wasn't nearly as bad as their Zelda cartoon in 1989.

Nintendo must have failed to mention that Samus was a woman, lol.

And don't get the slimed title, either.
