Forums - Gaming Discussion - Japanese company with the best West-style games

I was wondering about this lately.

What Japanese game dev company succeeds the best in capturing the style of Western games?

We know that the Japanese have a very distinct culture but we have Japanese devs who make Western games with western characters and/or gameplay styles created and popularized in the West.

You can take the following aspects into account when identifying the best J-Devs with the best West-like games.

1) Characters, settings and story set in the West

2) Character design

3) Gameplay styles created by Western developers

4) Character dialogue and themes

5) The above + having their games selling well and being well received by Western audiences

You are going to have to define what you mean by a west style game

Konami. Metal Gear, PES, anf yugioh are pretty popular in the west and have western influence.

I think I enumerated and listed what I am referring to as a "Western" game.

Unless you can define what you mean by character design,  dialogue and themes,  then I'm afraid I'm still at a lost to what you constitute as a western style game.

Characters don't look Japanese or Asian. Dialogue feels Western, use of idioms, casual talk (depending of Western country). The setting is in places in the West.

I am talking about when a game makes you feel: "I'd say this game was made by a Western developer, it doesn't feel like something you are used to coming from Japan and their culture."

So you are talking about Western setting/ context, and not style?

Because Western style games do not all conform to Western looking characters, Western dialogue, etc.

Yes, but those games are made by Eidos.

It can be gameplay styles or design made by and popularized by Western devs.

But also settings and culture from the West. I am talking about Japanese devs who make it so that we are amazed at how well they understand the Western culture they are depicting in their games. Use of slang, sense of humor, etc.
