Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Daemon X Machina Demo Impressions

I tried the four missions from the demo and must now move this game from my maybe-list onto my no-buy list.

Controls are meh at best, which is rather terrible for a Mech game. For those kind of games the feel about the mech is everything. And this doesn't feel powerfull at all.

The only real sense of control is when you're on the ground using the boost. Flying feels stunted with any of the controls presets. But worst of all is that the shooting is not satifying at all. The lock-on mechanic feels like a tack on.

I found it odd to release a demo with direct feedback. it looks like the team working on it know there is still much a lot of work to do. But it's unlikely this game is not going to improve much before launch.

I haven't tried the game but there is a problem i find most mech piloting games have in common is making the player feel like they are controlling a massive machine with an absurd amount weaponry.

One way I think these issues is go a first first person view (not very a good choice for melee combat gameplay) destructive environments and sound fx is quite important to

I quite liked it. I can't really tell when my shots are landing, though. Maybe some HD Rumble feedback when they hit to give me some indication?

I also hope the save data carries because I spent 30 minutes making my character...

Finished the demo an hour ago. It's not that bad, actually, but at the same time it's nothing special either.

I enjoyed the atmosphere, the visual presentation and the music. Battling in destroyed cities with giant mechs against robot tanks, flying drones and (of course) other mechs is pretty intense and felt satisfying once I figured out how to play the game properly. The underlying story seems quite generic so far but I am quite sure it will have a plot twist or two around the corner, so yeah it got me a little interested.

The controls are not that easy to learn, unfortunately. It took me quite a while to manouver the Arsenal efficiently and smoothly, but once I got that figured out the gameplay became much faster and even more intense. That was a nice feeling. I also found a hidden treasure by scanning a building, so maybe other missions will feature more secrets. I would appreciate that.

The boss fight was tough, and I liked it! I dieded once but managed to kill it in the second try. The boss punishes you for just rushing on him and shooting his weak spots, so a little strategy is necessary. I can imagine that later bosses will also rely on careful approaches.

The only thing that really bothered me was that sometimes enemies can be hard to spot unless I stare at the mini map, and I tend to avoid controlling my mech through the mini map alone. I wish they could stick out a bit more against their surroundings. That would be great. Also, I haven't figured out why I ever should leave the Arsenal and walk around as a little whimp. Maybe there are some uses for this, I don't know.

Altogether this is basically the doll fights from Xenoblade Chronicles X made as a new game. That's okay for those who like these things.

I haven´t tried it yet.... and probably won´t due to terrible, terrible internet connections where I live but...

Considering what I saw on youtube and trailers, the game seems fun. I like the aesthetics. and it seems full of action. I may pick it up in the future if it´s not too expensive

A couple of things:

1) I enjoyed playing the game, the art style is a fantastic choice and you can hide a lot of the blemishes that way. A more realistic mech game will look ugly on the switch.
2) I love the concept of being able to not only improve the Arsenal but also improve the player character and make them more like mini androids.

A couple of improvements
1) Frame rate does become an issue in mission number 3 when enemies start to appear.
2) Handheld mode looks a bit rough...they can definitely optimize it to play better on handheld mode.

Overall the game is a fantastic new ip, I liked the fact they released a demo because they can see how people enjoyed the game and areas they can improve performance.

The game is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I am usually not a fan of action titles.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I tried the demo and only got through one mission. To be honest, I could see the actual game being good, but it's an awful demo. And honestly, modern demos in general are kind of shit.

They always start at like the beginning of the game. You know, the part that's easily the most boring in almost every game? And if it's a sequel to a game, they skip out on the cutscenes that continue the story.

Why even start with a tutorial mission. What is so hard about dropping someone into a cool part of a game, lowering the amount of damage enemies give you, and then giving basic tutorial prompts?

Controls feel a little bit odd but they can be mapped however you want. What's more important though is the way the characters control. They need to be way more responsive. Nothing feels satisfying. I also thought this game would be way more based on horizontal movements, but it's basically like trying to shoot enemies while manually controlling the elevation of a hot air balloon. It's actually kind of a cool concept, but it still needs to have way more mid-air vertical control. The boost does not make up for the floaty feeling.

Also the HUD is just bad. Bad.

I'm starting to get worried that this game will not have a lot of locales and will be overall boring.
