Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii/DS each had ten 10-million-plus sellers. Switch has five and it's not even 2 years old

Will it pass them and make to 11 or more?

Yes 95 92.23%

No 8 7.77%

Total:103

For some reason, I have strong doubt that NSMB, SMM2, and LM3 make it to 10 million.

The question isn't if it'll have the most 10 million sellers anymore, it will. The question now, is if it will break a record for 20 million sellers?

We have 6 current 10 million sellers, 2 more pretty much guaranteed this year with Mario Party and Splatoon 2, another guaranteed eventually, possibly this year, with Animal Crossing, and some probable ones eventually with SMM2, LM3, and NSMBUD and you've already beat Wii/DS before considering BotW2, a second Pokemon gen, a probable Odyssey sequel, a probable 2D Mario entry (maybe even reboot), a possible new Mario Kart if Nintendo doesn't hate money (it's Nintendo, who knows), and there's no telling what a proper new DKC in the vein of Tropical Freeze would do on a thriving system. If it beats the original and becomes the series' new best like many Switch games have, it'd already be almost to 10 million. At this rate, even beating PS4's 10 million seller list seems not too hard.

20 million sellers:

Current:
1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Probable From Titles Already Released:
2. Super Smash Bros Ultimate
3. Super Mario Odyssey
4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
5. Pokemon Sword/Shield

Possible From Announced Future Titles:
6. Animal Crossing (maybe?)

Possible From Potential Unannounced Titles:
7. Mario Kart 9
8. Pokemon Gen 9
9. New 2D Mario Reboot

With the possibility of some unexpected wild card as well. The Wii has the record for all consoles, with 7. Switch seems certain to get at least 5, likely to get at least 6, and Pokemon Gen 9 will almost certainly be on Switch so pretty likely for 7. Just one more and Switch would hold the record.

The will possibly be 5 20m sellers by the end of this year and from the announced titles I think AC and BOTW's sequel can possibly hit that mark as well unannounced wise I don't think we'll see MK9 or another 2D Mario tbh and instead of gen 9 as I can see Gen 8 getting large dlc instead I think we'll get a remake of a prior game maybe D/P or B/W.

One dark horse in the mix is SMP which could scale with the NS' success and hit the 20m.

First post should be updated with a summary and a beautiful list with colors (different colors for sup-20M and sup-10M)

How does one do colours on VGChartz, I see on option for it on the posting screen?

I didn't think there would be a direct this week, cos I'm a pessimistic dunce.

Ah, well I take to coding like a stegosaurus to figure skating so I'm afraid I won't be able to colourise the OP, though, I have updated it with a list of 10 million sellers to date. :)

Fourth icon from the left in the bottom row is Cell Properties. Put the cursor in the cell of a table that you want to change, click on Cell Properties and then the Advanced Tab. The lowest option in that tab is Background Color. While simple inputs such as "green" and "blue" get accepted, those default colors are rather hefty on the eyes. Here's a selection of hex codes that give you something nicer, such as the color in the box above:

#ffe599 - yellow
#f9cb9c - orange
#9fc5e8 - light blue
#6fa8dc - blue
#b6d7a8 - light green
#93c47d - green
#c27ba0 - purple
#ea9999 - pale red
#ff96dc - pink

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

Thanks man. :) Is there a way to change text colour?

I can't find anything to change text color. But if you create a table for your list of games and use background colors, then black text suffices.

I know it would be quicker if you could write a plain list and simply change the text color to highlight specific games, but I am not sure if that's possible with this rich text editor. The creation of a table isn't that time-consuming, so it's not the end of the world.

lol I was not serious about the colors. Just trolling.

With the sales numbers however, it would be great....Oh no, even better, a graph. :D
