Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo FY Q3 Results (Switch 32.3m LT, Smash Bros 12m, Pokemon 10m..)

Ohhhhh, just found out that Octopath being at 1.27 is a guess by us.Since Nintendo has only acess to the data pertaining the west, since thats where they publish it(Japan was self published by Square), the difference comes from media create sales numbers, which we only have knowledge of its retail sales. So the game sold well above 1.27.With shipped numbers and digital, it should be really close to 1.4 million.

Still not as good as I would have hoped, but great nonetheless.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I won't say the names because i don't want to and i don't need to. I'm not upset about what people called me as much as you saying i wasn't right to be honest.....

What is so wrong about saying Switch will fight to reach 17M shipped??? If Nintendo reached the goal of that 17M, is precisely because they will fight to do it, from my point of view. If a team wins a tournament, even if is expected to do it, they have to fight for it.

You and me don't know the number for sellthrough sales, so i can't say i'm right and you can't say i'm wrong yet. The only number that we can use to prove is shipment numbers, and sorry, i could not be more specific about the number i expected. I said it multiple times. 9-10M shipped for Q3, 2-3M shipped for Q4, so 32M total shipped by Q3, 12-13M shipped for the rest of the year, and i specifically said i expected 17M shipped by FY.

I don't know how you can not admit that...

"Partially right and partially wrong" means that you were right regarding some points, but wrong on others. It has been acknowledged from the beginning that you were right on some things. "Fight to reach 17m" has to be another victim of the language barrier, because it actually means that someone has to work extra hard to accomplish a certain goal. But Switch hasn't received a price cut and the release schedule has been far from well-rounded this fiscal year, so it's far from fighting; most people would probably call it coasting to 17m because Nintendo hasn't been making much of an effort and fiscal Q4 only reinforces that with its release schedule.

You came into this thread as if you had had a clean sweep (i.e. right on everything) and therefore deserve an apology for what you've been called in the last few months. But since you were partially wrong too, there's no good reason why you should get an apology for everything. The lowballing in particular is something that you continue to do in this thread.

I hope that cleared things up a bit, and if you aren't going to name names, then this has pretty much run its course. Of course you are free to get in your final words, but afterwards it's for the best if the thread returns to the topic of financial data.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

Are you guys going to turn this into a thread about whos right n wrong because of a revised forecast. Anyway im happy seeing botw still selling so well and splatoon 2 in way to ten million

What's the point in making predictions in all of those threds asking how much is going to do a console or game then?? Why are we here in VGC??

But don't worry, i won't insist anymore. I made my point so no more derailing for me.

Good results for Nintendo in hardware and software sales.

Post it on the same thread of the "bet" or argument/discussion or privately message them.

"No, I highly doubt it - that soft spring quarter has hamstrung them somewhat. They needed to be coming in at around 3 million units or more for each quarter outside of Q3; 1.88 million in Q1 just wasn't good enough. Labo clearly hasn't taken off the way they hoped; the three packs combined have probably sold less than Xenoblade Chronicles. Selling less than a middle-tier JRPG is not what you want for a new game that's meant to bring your hardware to a wider audience.

My guess is they're going to land in the 18-18.5 million range, which would still be strong. As others have noted, PS4 did about 17.7 million in the second fiscal year, so around the 18 million mark would be good for Switch. Nintendo are at ~5.1 million now; I can see 9.5 million for the holiday quarter and 3.5 million in Q4, for a little over 18 million for the financial year."

That was my post on November 2nd - it seems now 18 million is likely the absolute best case scenario. Nintendo must be expecting this Q4 to come in slightly above Q1 of the financial year (1.88m), when Labo launched and which lacked any other significant sales drivers. It still seems conservative, especially given shipments of ~2.5 million would be down year over year.

I'd really hope they have a more consistent line-up planned for the next financial year. It's far from clear when their games are coming, but if they can get one of Luigi's Mansion 3, Animal Crossing and Pokemon out in Q1, Q2 and Q3, and actually have something significant launch in their Q4 for the coming financial year, they'll do better. A price cut or revision (or both) is also likely.

How i am partially wrong???, LOL. I am right or yet to prove right, but defitively not wrong. You haven't proved anything....

Such denial.....good lord. And i deserved an apology back then, not now, not because i'm right or not, but becuase i should not being called those things in the first place. Just because of respect among users here. People felt so convinced i was wrong  they called me whatever they want without any respect. That was my point. I've seen people who i considered vastly wrong and i never used words like fanboy, biased, having an agenda, .... It's very easy to understand.

And that was just an expression. Who cares???. When i'm racing in Gran Turismo Sport, and i start 5th, and see the level of my rivals and i say sometimes to my self: "I'm going to fight for 3rd position" and in others i said "I'm going to fight to keep the 5th place". I call "fight for" as the objective you put yourself on.  But you can call it whatever you want. I've ben saying those things since november, so you won't find any post saying i did not expect this numbers for Switch.

Like we said in spanish, "there is no one more deaf than the one who doesn't want to listen". So i give you that we should stop derailing. Let's stop right here.

To all of you that called me that...THANK YOU.

Lol, you act like you're the ONLY one who thought Nintendo would miss their target. Many Nintendo fans includung have been predicting around 17-18m the entire time.
