Watched Lion King yesterday. Not a very good movie. Technical marvel nonetheless.

But as much as technically great looking it is (apart from being utterly mediocre narratively and direction wise), visually it is extremely bland movie. It's just...realistic, with no disticnt visual style.. And that's about it. IMO there was no reason to go photorealistic over stylized realism of say Zootopia (Disney as well), especially with all the talking animals - not sure how I'd describe it, throughout the whole movie I had this feeling of visual and narrative (visonarrative?) dissonance.

I'm really hoping this is not what eventually happens to games as well.

Shame I'm not into BW, not gonna be able to play Control (EGS exclusive), not really sure about Man of Medan and Gears 5 is a bit expensivo, so I'll wait for a sale on Steam sometime. Detroit isn't my sort of game, but it's also EGS exclusive, so that was never going to show on my radar anyway.

Revisiting this thread makes me realize I pretty much have to play RE2. Very Impressive. I'm pretty far behind with the console tech monsters. Just finished Horizon Zero Dawn/The Frozen Wilds on the PS4 Pro. Before that, the 2 graphics biggies I played were Ratchet And Clank and Uncharted 4. I'll even toss in inFamous Second Son and Driveclub. But man, the looks of RE2.....Curious to see how it compares to the aforementioned games when I'm actually playing it. Fortunate to have a very lovely 4K TV, but will usually optimize frame rate when given the choice.

Death Stranding looks so good. But the new Graphic-King is really hard to say. The Last of Us 2, Final Fantasy 7 Remake or Ghost of Tsushima in future, i think.
My prediction: Ghost of Tsushima wins, the details are very impressive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWpVhkwVkpE But for this Year maybe the first game of the new Kojima Productions-Studio. Would be cool. Thats the "Horizon Zero Dawn Graphic-Engine", i think ?!?

You really think Gears 5 is too expensive? It will be one of the highest production games made this year with a multiplayer mode as well. You dont really get much more in a game than what Gears 5 is offering you.

I am sure a Steam special is due but i think the game is worth its price. Than again i dont know your budget.

Not to mention, you can play it for peanuts by just getting gamepass for a month.

That I do. I also think Greedfall is expensive, for all it's jank and asset re-use, but I chose Greedfall over Gears 5 due to MT's (though I bought Gears 5 for my SO, because she wanted to play it).

I'm not really sure on the offerings part, since I recently purchased Deep Rock Galactic and I've been having tons of fun with it for the past 3 days. Always able to hop into a random lobby with 4 other people and mine around/killing bugs. That game was a fraction of the price of Gears 5, without MT's as well.

Our versions of what we value are very different. I don't do budgets, but I just don't feel like paying that sort of price, simply because it isn't all that worth to me. Games are a luxury item mind you, not like food/water.

Thats fair enough. I didnt even know Gears 5 had MTs until recently as i am half way through the Champaign and played afew MP matches. Found out that its all cosmetic with no pay to win system which i throught is good news. Gears 5 is also a free game on GamePass so i guess they have to make there money somehow.

Deep Rock Galactic is a great game. I trailed it out when the demo released and had fun with it. I haven't tried Greedfall yet, it doesnt look like my type of game to be honest.

I just don't think a £50 game needs MT's of any sort, no matter the company/pub backing it. I'm also not doing a game sub service anytime soon either, as I prefer to buy once and have the game within my library forever. They make more than enough with the £50 purchase on both stores, even on the X1 as well.

Greedfall has it's jank, but I can tell it's trying to be a bit more like EA's Dragon Age, which si something I guess, since EA has basically butchered the hell out o Bioware, and the new DA sounds like it's going to be a dumpster fire.
