Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is LABO going to explode this holiday?

OK, but according to VGC it is also a million seller by now.

They will go up a bit, but they are not going to explode definitively. Their target audience are children who have a Nintendo switch. This greatly reduces their potential sales.

It's not bait if it's the argument that people have had for the product since its lukewarm debut.

Like I said..."considering the OP".. If it were someone neutral asking the the same question, then it would be legit.

Points are independent of who makes them. And attacking people for their preferences isn't very cool.

Well that is troublesome. Just like X1 also had day one editions 6m after release (of course there were new shipments in that case).

And in my opinion LABO will sell even less than I predicted right after its lanch. First I thought that it could sell 2 million lifetime, but now I am not even sure about that. And it most likely will sell a lot less than what Nintendo expected. Fortunately.

What? You don't think it will sell 2M? In July it had 1.39M, without even the vehicle kit released. It may not be the next Wii Sports, but it will get to 2M.

it bothers me that there are still people here to hope for failure. Labo is a neat concept, though maybe not for you. The industry needs Nintendo's wacky concepts or it will be the same thing over and over again.

Yes, this. There are many different sorts of gamers. If you don't like some concept, then don't buy it. If others buy it, who knows, maybe these sales finance the next AAA-flop you love. But reducing the industry only to some genres or concepts is... boring.

Look in this thread: "If by explode you mean sell really well, I sort of hope not."

No, but at least you know Nintendo is doing well when their biggest recent flop still managed to reach well over 1 million sales.

Yeah, many game companies wish for this sort of failure.

It's no use OP, nobody is putting stock into Labo anymore ...

It's just one of the many other failed concepts or ideas out there ...

As failed as Detroit Become Human, Shadow of the Collossus, Ni No Kuni II, Soul Calibur VI and many others. What a bunch of falures.

The first post with this was after my own post asking who was hoping, so nope, someone was just being dramatic on the ever "everybody hates nintendo".

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

April's 2018 NPD told us everything we needed to know about the present and lack of future for LABO.

Keep in mind, Nintendo only said sales will accelerate during holidays, not necessarily explode (which they were correct as the Variety and Vehicle Kits both saw bumps throughout November and December in Japan). I honestly don't think Nintendo sees Labo as a system seller, probably because it's too big and too complex to be one. But it is a great product for kids who already own a Switch, so Nintendo looks to be focusing on that. It's hard to tell what they expected from Labo since their marketing for it has been very weird and unconventional. We'll perhaps know its fate after the holidays are over.

This is from the 3rd post in the thread:  "And it most likely will sell a lot less than what Nintendo expected. Fortunately."  Saying something will "fortunately" sell lower than the manufacturer's expectations is very much hoping for failure.

Yeah. The expectations for LABO simply were up in the sky, as everyone expected Nintendo now to present their next big thing. I'm unsure what exactly Nintendo expected. Puzzled to this day. Maybe their expectations were disappointed, maybe not. I expected some more, but a definite million seller and probably on it's way to two million is easily no dud either.

What great timing too, the Vehicle Kit finally returned to the Top 20 this week according to Media Create. So while it's not doing gangbusters sales, I think Nintendo is happy with the results thus far given the type of product Labo is. Funny thing is, the ResetERA thread talking about this still swears up and down that its a failure and that Nintendo must've expected more, even though we have no idea what they expected. It's just one of those situations where gamers think they know better than the people who actually have sales data and internal projections.

Its sold well over a million units, so hardly a flop. Can't understand why people thought it would be the next lightning in a bottle moment. Nintendo made it very clear from the beginning that it was a concept aimed at kids and kids at heart. Heck! It didn't even feature in any direct and was shown off via a short 7 min trailer. I think it has actually sold in line of Nintendo's expectations.

It did 1.4m on its first quarter, so it will probably be well above 2m once the holidays are over... lol.

That said, I don't think it will explode, just receive a decent boost.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won
