Forums - Movies Discussion - Daredevil joins Luke Cage and Iron Fist as 3rd cancelled Marvel-Netflix show

The official statement from Netflix:

"Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to our partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel."

Around the Network

The series did end on a really high note, but these news suck. In the end, I know it's not Netflix's fault since Marvel is moving to their own streaming service, but I have a feeling that the show won't come back in the way it was on those future Marvel projects Daredevil will be in.

I think it is safe to say now that these are being cancelled so that they can move to the Disney Streaming Service that releases later this year. While Iron Fist and Luke cage were the 2 least popular Marvel-Netflix shows, Daredevil was the most popular, which means that it's definitely not being cancelled because of the ratings. I think we will see Iron Fist and Luke Cage revived on the Disney streaming service as the two crossover shows, Heroes for Hire (Danny Rand + Luke Cage) and Daughters of the Dragon (Colleen Wing + Misty Knight), as the groundwork for both crossovers has already been laid. Joining them will be Daredevil, as well as Punisher and Jessica Jones after their 2nd and 3rd seasons respectively air on Netflix and they are subsequently cancelled by Netflix. That will give the Disney streaming service 7 Marvel shows, those 5 from Netflix, plus the already announced Scarlett Witch and Loki shows.

Yeah, it definitely got a nice sendoff, season 3 was the best out of all the Marvel-Netflix seasons so far across all 5 shows. Hopefully these series are all revived on the Disney Streaming service without any recasting or rebooting.
