Forums - Sony Discussion - Will Sony censor Catherine: Full Body and/or lose Persona as a Playstation exclusive?

Will Atlus concede Persona 6 to Nintendo if and when Catherine: Full Body gets censored?

They'll censor Catherine:... 8 16.00%

They'll censor Catherine:... 9 18.00%

They'll censor Catherine:... 11 22.00%

Catherine: Full Body won'... 22 44.00%

Total:50

With all the bullshit censorship Sony has undergone, it's almost a certainty that Catherine: Full Body will be censored as well on the CensorStation 4, and so where does that leave Persona 6 for the CensorStation 5? Will Atlus concede its only major Sony exclusive to Nintendo if and when it happens?

Honestly, a part of me hopes it does happen. Sony needs to learn a lesson in humility. If it takes losing a major exclusive franchise of theirs to learn that they have a lot more to lose by trying to appease non-gamers with their puritanical bullshit, then so be it, and it'll be to Nintendo, no way will it go to MS.

Around the Network

I think they will make exceptions for major titles, it really will be middle/low tier games that will be hurt.

Why would Persona be involved at all? There's nothing in it that would be censored, other than maybe the persona that looks like a giant dick.

Maybe developers need a lesson in humility in game development?

I hope Yoko Taro never works on Sony's future consoles. Fuck this company and its puritan standards.

I can believe I'm really actually planning on ditching any future Sony consoles.

Around the Network

I can see Sony backing down on the censorship. They won't risk losing players.

They get that on a daily basis from people who will never buy their games regardless...

Nah they'll double down on it. They're fucking arrogant again like in PS3 era.

This. And then their actual customers won't buy their games, either, look at what happened to Hyper Universe after Nexxon caved:

Another glaring example of #GetWokeGoBroke.

From what I can tell, their censorship is regarding the player actively interacting with the character, be it with the 'golden fan' blowing wind and causing a panty shot or the Senran Kagura mode where the player touches the girls to raise their affection. From what I can recall, Catherine did not have any of those sort of activities. and nor did Persona.

While I do think Sony is being way too overzealous with their censorship and it can and likely will cost them in the long run, there hasn't been a case to my knowledge that would cause something like Catherine or Persona to be censored because they don't have the little touching mini games or anything similar.

With that in mind, I chose option #4, though I do hope Persona becomes multiplat. Also keep in mind that Nintendo and other publishers (particularly when it comes to the English publishers of free to play online games) frequently do remove gameplay involving touching/caressing female characters as it could easily be construed as molesting, and no company wants that sort of controversy brought up.
