Forums - Gaming Discussion - 2018 Worldwide Software Top 50 after 9 months

I meant to do this after 6 months but forgot so I'll do it after 9 months instead. Obviously with many big games out the last 3 months it will change dramatically but lets take a look after 9 months. Total software by console first followed by the top 50. If you want to view the top 100 on VGchartz click this link. It updates every time a new week of sales is tracked. http://www.vgchartz.com/yearly/2018/Global/

Switch is doing pretty damn well. PS4 is just an unstoppable beast!

Without new releases Switch secures 4 TOP 10 placements. This is is kind of an achievement. Let's see how all the big releases in the last quarter change the situation.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019

Predictions: Switch / Switch vs. XB1 in the US / Three Houses first quarter

Good year for Sony exclusives. Though I'm surprised Shadow of the Colossus did not reach the million on retail yet.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I can see the Top changing fast with the arrival of Pokémon and Smash :3

Since, major Nintendo titles always have big legs and sell incredibly well during holiday period, I won't be surprised the end results too. I predict 5 titles from Nintendo in the Top 10* (* VGChartz only).

Also ... Kirby missed the Top 10 mark barely *snaps my fingers*. Japan will save you this holiday my boi !

I guess digital should make the difference even bigger for ps4

I’m pretty confident that even with the release of RDR2 and BO4, God of War and Spider Man will stay in the top 5.

Smash is going to sell well, but I have a feeling that Pokémon LG will fall very short of sales expectations. It’ll do great in Japan, but there doesn’t seem to be all that much attention for it on the worldwide scale, and most western gamers are going to see it as a paid expansion for Pokémon Go.

Let's not forget the two biggest sellers of the year rdr2 and bo4 are yet to release. Fifa is only week 1 and that will be huge too. Maybe we should update this after October weeks are in and likewise after November? Maybe doing it weekly then throughout December?

Incredible software -and hardware sales for the PlayStation 4. Definitely the best games-console in the last years!
God of War and Spiderman, very impressive and deserved. Interesting: Monster Hunter World & DBZ FighterZ, golden times for both series.
"Detroit: Become Human" has the best /most interesting characters of the year for me and very exciting atmosphere / story - a good title for Christmas, the game deserves much more :) And the fantastic Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming in the charts, next time.
Overall: A strong 2018-Year for players, developers and Singleplayer-Fans :)

The best summer of all time, for all GAMER:
"The Last of Us 2" in June, "Ghost of Tsushima" in July !!
2020-Game of the Year, currently: Persona 5 Royal, FF7 Remake
