Forums - Politics Discussion - How Democrats Went from Opposing Illegal Immigration to Supporting it.

https://youtu.be/qUU2iWxrH2M

Saw that video earlier today and it's interesting. Democrats are just using illegal immigrants to gain more votes but they used to be anti illegal immigration just over a decade ago.

You are aware that seeking asylum is in no way illegal, correct? Like you have a fundamental understanding of the topic at hand?

I know that but there are still many immigrants that just cross the border. We should make it easier for refuges and asylum seekers since Latin and South America has become more dangerous over the years but just crossing the border is wrong.

Such a scam issue. Trump uses it as a dog whistle because he knows it riles up a select portion of gullible white people who are terrified of immigrants that just want to clean hotels, pick fruit, and nanny some fat, spoiled American kids (oh noez!)

The fact of the matter is most of these folkes are actually quite conservative, they are quite religious usually, anti-abortion, and pro-business/pro-entrepreneurship. They're probably more conservative than the average American. If Republicans would stop demonizing them every 10 seconds they might actually get some of those votes.

In the long run they will have to, the "Trump crowd" is mostly old, bitter people who will be dead in 10-15 years. They can't rely on that base forever, the younger demographics of the US are much more diverse and they will have to eventually accept that the politics of scapegoating groups like Latinos won't work.

A lot of it is bunk too, in the 17 years since 9/11, how many terrorists have come from the Southern border? Zero. If you wanted to be a gang-banger criminal, which is a better place, Mexico, where you can do as you please, or the US where a person of color can get their ass thrown in jail just for looking sideways at a cop and has a for-profit prison industry based on throwing tons of people into jail?

Trump has also flip-flopped on a lot of bull shit, he was pro-choice and even backed Bill Clinton's assault weapons ban in the 90s and 2000s ... good luck getting him to admit to that today. Also I'm sure he had his clothing line made in China just by accident too.

If they're using it to gain votes, doesn't that mean it's what the voters want?

As far as I know political parties in the US changed a lot over the course of history. Republicans weren't always far right. In fact they'd probably referred to as liberal leftist by some members of the party today.

No, the statement is that they bring in illegal immigrants who will then vote for them.

Illegal immigrants can vote?

they need an underclass for votes. plain and simple. this caravan is just a pawn for power from the left and funded by leftest groups and some say by the socialist murder in Venezuela.

i feel sorry for the immigrants who went through the whole process of becoming a US citizen to see people who did nothing for citizenship just walk across. I worked with some immigrants from Iraq not too long ago and they were so nice, and was great to work with, one needed me to put a mp3 on his ipod that had audio of what he needed to know to take the test to become an American citizen, i will never forget how grateful he was to be here, and to have the opportunity to naturalize.

all for legal immigration, not for illegal immigration at all.

The elitist smug upperclass right wing (that includes the majority of both democrats and republicans) like to pin groups in the working class against each other. Any conflict within the working class helps the elite, because as long as the working class is busy fighting itself, it won't fight the elite. And then the 1 % can get even more power and money.

Immigrants when/if they can vote, or the next generation tend to vote democrat. It also encourages people to vote democrat because it creates fear about throwing out illegals who have settled into the country.

There are certainly scenarios where illegals immigrants have voted illegally and they support democrats. That's is why there has been debate about voter IDs. Some cities are actually allowing illegals to vote in local elections, which means they're shaping communities in such a way only citizens should but its ignored because they support left wing causes.

Estimates say there are about 20 million illegals in the country, that's more people than most countries even have. Democrats don't much care though because its their base and want them treated the same as citizens. Most illegals are latin and helps them with that demo. Basically the way we handle immigration is antithetical to every other developed country.
