The new BattleToads game teased at Microsoft's E3 this year said it'd be out in 2019.

However, the next Xbox Console is rumored to be out in 2020, and would need some enticing launch games.

The new BattleToads should be one of those games, as it's not the kind of game often seen on Xbox, and it's a relaunch of an old Rare IP people have clamored for in the past decade or two.

Yeah, right? It's so weiiiirddd. When I think of enticing games that would make me buy a console, Battletoads always comes to mind.

They should definitely delay it.

Backwards compatibility will ensure people are able to play it on either platform. I think the target launch date is fine.

Yes and no.  The hype of next gen titles that will probably "outshine" Battletoads will make Battletoads seems less relevant when the next gen comes around unless there is a remaster of said title.

I think you might be overestimating Battletoads as a franchise. Most of the Xbox user-base probably hasn't played it. Of those, the ones that have even heard of it have likely just read that it was really hard. Honestly, being broken is probably why people still talk about it.

Besides that, the tease was so low-key that I'm wondering if it will be a major release at all.

I don't think Battletoads will do much to push hardware either way.

I don't think there's any way the new Battletoads could successfully serve as their next console's BotW.

I mean, even the original Battletoads was meh, so it's not really a console selling franchise, even if it is cool.

battletoads has me hyped. Been waiting for another game for years. Hopefully this one ends up good

I'd hardly call Battletoads a system seller anyway, it's sales were nowhere near the level of several other Rare games such as Banjo and Perfect Dark. There are rumors of a new Perfect Dark coming for next gen anyway, so that will be a bigger system seller than Battletoads could ever be. Battletoads is just one of a few final Xbox One exclusives that MS will release to tide people over until next gen, which most of their focus is on right now.
