Forums - Sony Discussion - Games Like Quantic Dreams' Interactive Narrative Games

In the months leading up to the release of Detroit: BH, both Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls were included in the free PS Plus membership games. I had actually played through a few hours of Heavy Rain back when it debuted on the PS3, but never finished it. After playing through Detroit, I decided to go back and give the games I try. I finished Heavy Rain and am 2/3rds (maybe more) through Beyond Two Souls, and for the most part have enjoyed all three games.

The main issue I had was with the first two titles, as some of the QTE sequences utilize the motion controls of the controller, and I find myself failing many of those prompts despite my best efforts. Detroit used touch pad commands in place of these, and they worked splendidly.

I'm looking for other games to play that are similar to these. I was really fond of the "murder mystery" themes of Heavy Rain. I understand there are quite a few Telltale games (of which I have never played a single one), so maybe that's a good place to start, although if there is anything else out there that I'm missing out on, please let me know.

I posted this in Sony Discussion, but I suppose I'm also open to playing games on other hardware (don't have anything Xbox, though).

Also, WOW, the visuals in Detroit exceeded anything I've played up to this point.

Until dawn is a good one to try out.

The Wolf Among Us is an amazing murder mystery game as well. I actually think its Telltale's best game. Definitely try that one out

My favorite games in this genre are Walking Dead Season 1 and Life is Strange (you should know the dialogue can be a quite cringe-worthy sometimes, but the game combines story and gameplay in some pretty interesting ways). I havent played The Wolf Among Us, but many consider it one of the best tealltale games, plus it’s murder mystery so it seems like what you’re looking for

Until Dawn was another one of the PS Plus free monthly games that I wouldn't have played otherwise, and I very much enjoyed it (even though I believe everyone died in my game).

How dare you!! Go back and do it again until they all live!!! :D

If you enjoy murder mysteries in a somewhat similar vein, and want to distance yourself from the QTEs, I'd highly recommend the Ace Attorney series. They're all fantastic titles, and every mainline game is available on the 3DS (first four are available on standard DS).

The only thing that compares is Until dawn. Tell tale games are like two slightly differenty written books where you mix and match the pages without knowing which is which. The next closest thing is probably The Witcher games.
