Forums - Movies Discussion - DuckTales Reboot Ruins Doofus Drake

Well, I just saw an episode of the 2017 DuckTales reboot, which I mostly enjoy, but then this happened:

Why the fuck would they turn a well-meaning bumbler into a fat piece of shit? How did Disney allow this to fucking happen?

His debut episode may be the single worst in the DuckTales reboot thus far. Just like making Gyro an asshole, it's a steaming duck shit taken on the original DuckTales. What's next, Donald turns out to be a pedophile? -_-

I don't think Doofus was anyone's favorite character back in the day. Give it time. You might grow to love him.

Sure I will, like I love sciatica.

They either need to make new Doofus more likable like in the original series, or have him blown out of the sky when it's not even duck season. At least the person who made him a dick apologized for him showing up in new episodes to come.

LMFAO

WTF was that? I don't know the character from the original and I know nothing about the reboot. That was demented. I laughed a lot. Who writes this stuff for children?

Some jackass who thought "Hey, instead of improving on this character like we did with Webby, how about we make one of the most sympathetic characters an unlikable duck version of Donald Trump? Derp! 8D".

i feel like this is just unwarranted anger. "he use to be a sweet boy, but the money and power changed him" is enough to put his character into context. he use to be the way he was in the original series but then he turned greedy, and im sure there will be an arc surrounding that. who knows, he may return to his selfless nature later in the series.

but as whole, they needed to take a lot of creative liberties with the show if they wanted it to suit a modern audience. it seems like in the original series, characters were either incredibly well-meaning, or villains. but now pretty much all characters, even the triplets, have their own distinct personalities.

The Duck Tales game remaster was good though =´P

I honestly had no idea this was rebooted.

Or that they did this to Doofus Duck.

Or that there was a character named Doofus Duck.

The DuckTales b reboot is awesome. Way better than I ever hoped it could be. I guess I'm willing to forgive its few stumbles.

I was was never a fan of Doofus (or Bubba the cave duck!), though. They always made me cringe.

Overall i think the new Ducktales is awesome, it feels like one of those were children might be the target audience but there is enough for adults to enjoy too. I rally love the Don Rosa inspired artstyle. And to be completely honest i watched the original Ducktales and i can't even remember that character
