Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Fortnite - warning DO NOT play on PS4, or you can't play on Switch (and quick start guide if you're sheltered like me, and didn't know about this game before)
I have no desire to play this game on PS4. I don't own an xbox, but I did link my xbox live account. The recent news just makes me not want to ever link my PSN account.. But, there's a chance I already did. It's not helping me to actually want to give the game another shot either. There's other games, and consoles to play. Or, in my case, my PC, which I use for all multi-plats and xbox exclusives anyway.
I'd tried fornite in the past, even spending 60 dollars on it, but I don't see myself giving it another try anytime soon.
I have been curious to know what happens if you logged into switch first, and then PS4.

No, you will have to pay a Nintendo Switch Online account in order to play Fortnite, as you need a XBL Gold account to do the same (ohmagad, Nintendo and Microsoft are so anti-consumer :P). That's a requirement in order to have cross-play with Xbox.
Does anyone can answer me on this ? When you link you're Fortnite account on Switch or XB, are you warn that you won't be able to play this account on PS ? If not, that proves that the fault of not being warned (because that is where the problem lies, whatever the causes that led to this policy on the Fortnite account) is entirely on EG for lack of transparency.
Yes, the X1 and PS4 versions. Sony policy with regards to the Switch version might not have been a topic of discussion prior to Switch porting efforts getting underway.
Im sorry? You expect anyone to actually believe that EG 'might not' have considered even in the face of it being the PS4/ X1 policy for the game in addition to Sony doing a full system wide lockout of crossplay btw the PS4 and both the X1 and Switch?
So EG are also incompetent on top of not warning Switch users (heck they didnt even warn X1 users)
I have not the slightest idea, I'm not familiar with how EG operates behind closed doors.
Maybe EG is incompetent like you suggest or maybe they are not contractually allowed to warn users of the restriction: if I were Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft, I wouldn't want users knowing they're about to potentially sabotage their EG account in some way by linking it to my network. I wouldn't warn the user either and EG could do little to influence the messaging I provide to the users of my network.
Of course this issue is only there to begin with because of Sony's policy which contrasts to Nintendo's and Microsoft's.

Yeah, and I'm sure Sony merely asked nicely and didn't basically hold their 80mil user install base to ransom. You can give EG 20% of the blame if it makes you feel better. 80% belongs with the platform holder. Sony makes the rules, Sony came up with this policy. Sony can be rid of it with the snap of a finger, EG can't do shit.
And about all your posts about EG not warning people...do you really think Sony wouldn't wrap such a deal in an ironclad NDA? Do you think they are that freaking dense?
Now I wonder who's footing the bill for those bundles.
3rd party developers are happy to make PS4 bundles since launch ( remember that Watch Dogs ye ), also Fortnite is a big dog right now so it is a good partner for Sony.
Ultimately, both sides have to agree to make a deal.
Investors will rather have account switching allowed rather than swaths of bad PR at Sony's faces.
By the way, Sony stock was down 2% because of this. How ironic. We can't screw up PS investors if PS already is doing that themselves.
SNY Corp is back up and hit $50 per share today, the highest the stock has been since 2008.

So is PS going to allow cross accounts but make up the difference by selling Fortnite bundles, or is this because Fortnite now owes PS due to the recent backlash that's being kept hush hush for whatever reason, or is PS and/or Epic simply throwing this in MS and Nin's faces to spite them?

Well you could also say it's actually 27% the consumers fault, since they have given PS4 a 60% majority portion of the console market as of this point in time. The PS4 customers have given PS this position which has led to these rules and policies.
Edit* changed 33% to 27%. 33 would be an equal third, 27 is everyone above that.
