Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Resident Evil 7 Cloud Version announced for Switch, launches this coming week

No Capcom.. pls No..

Resident Evil 7 will not be launching on Nintendo’s console in the traditional sense. Everything runs through the cloud, so you won’t actually be purchasing the full game that can be played offline. You’ll need a stable internet connection while accessing the title.

Players will nonetheless be able to play Resident Evil 7 in its entirety on Switch. This includes the Banned Footage Volume 1 and 2, End of Zoe, and Not a Hero DLC.

Resident Evil 7 can be played for up to 15 minutes on Switch for free. After that, you’ll need to purchase a 2,000 yen ticket, which lasts 180 days.

So.... What is that? There's no way it's a port of 7 for that price. I'm confused

Fancy hearing me on an amateur podcast with friends gushing over one of my favourite games? https://youtu.be/1I7JfMMxhf8

Cloud version.... Im confused. What is this? Just some part of the original game? Or is it the whole game but you can only play it online?

Well that’s something. It’s going to be interesting to see hos this edition will work, although i don’t think we will Get a western release anytime soon

Nothing to see here, move along

It's streamed, so you need an internet connection and you don't own it, it's $20 (more or less) for 180 days.  That's all I need to know to say screw that and screw them.

Well this is interesting. Will the service work well enough and have reasonable latency to play the game with superior visuals to offset what would likely have been a traditional downgraded port? Will be following how this works out to see if there's another avenue for the Switch in Japan to receive more modern AAA games.

20 dollars for 180 days is a rather weird pricing system though.

Can't imagine it would take people more than 180 days to finish this game, at which point 20e is rather cheap to play through resi 7

Is this some kind of new practice? Never heard of a "Cloud version" before. :P

I've would be ok with it if we had also the choice of just buying the game like normal. Sadly that won't be the case..

this is so dumb

Capcom just keeps disappointing me with the Switch "support".
