The Tonight Show will be running its popular Classroom Instruments segment later today, albeit with a major twist. Ariana Grande will be performing “No Tears Left To Cry” entirely with Nintendo Labo.

Speaking about the collaboration with Nintendo, The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon told IGN:

“We made a full-on band using Labo. I love that Nintendo does stuff like this. I mean what is this? Why would you even think of this? Only they could do something like this.”

“We met with Nintendo and they showed us a bunch of cool cardboard things that you can make. We used the Variety Kit and we made a keyboard. We asked if we could make other cardboard things like guitars and they [Nintendo] said, ‘Of course! We’ll help you do it.'”

“Leveraging nearly every aspect of Toy-Con Garage, the group was able to create custom Toy-Con-like Guitars, as well as reprogram existing ones to emit musical sounds. “We made guitars by putting rubber bands over the Switch tablet so that it actually feels like you’re strumming as your fingers touch the screen.”

“It was totally bizarre and such a gamble. I didn’t know if it was going to sound good, but Ariana is always down to try something fun and different. Anyone can do what we did really, it just takes time. Whatever you dream of, you can make it.”

During the upcoming segment, Fallon plays the guitar. Grande, meanwhile, leads the way of vocals and also plays a custom Labo Triangle.

And here’s a breakdown of the different instruments for The Roots:

– Tariq: Toy-Con Fishing Rod
– Kamal and James: Toy-Con Pianos
– Stro: two Joy-Con to make different drum sounds
– Questlove: has Robot Kit on, controlling both the kick drum and high-hat

You can watch Ariana Grande and the entire performance when The Tonight Show airs on Monday, May 14 at 11:30 PM on NBC.

That's... Actually quite amazing, not gonna lie.

What I really wanna see next is a heavy metal band (any band will do) playing something with labo! XD

Is she going to lick someone else's cardboard and then put it back?

That must be a fat paycheck

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Hey Nintendo! Don't give any ideas to Activision for reviving Guitar Hero!

And yet people believe that Labo's sales are already more than enough, and that Nintendo is already very happy because it cost nothing to them so they already made a lot of money. Right.

Nintendo on that stuff again. Genius marketing that is.

Labo's actually done pretty decently so far. The thing is, it's basically a Toy, and Nintendo is treating it as such, relying more on long-term sales and continuous releases rather than day one purchases.

How do those things exclude each other?

Nintendo put a massive marketing for Labo. And even weeks after release, they keep doing it. It's obvious that for them Labo isn't a niche product that doesn't need to sell well because the investment was low, like some people here like to believe. Otherwise they wouldn't, you know, spend so much money trying to sell the thing.

Nintendo invested quite a lot in that, they want and need it to succeed. It didn't succeed so far, even with the big marketing, so they're trying other big ways of market it to try to push some sales. Marketing push is usually done for launch and holidays, because that's when you have tons of games to sell. Not a month after launch...

Seriously, weeks after launch they pay Ariana Grande to help sell the product, and you think that it means the product was a huge success so far?
