I went with 1996-2000 - OOT, Goldeneye, Gran Turismo, FF7/8/9, Mario RPG, DKR, MK64, MGS1, XENOGEARS, Mario64, Majoras Mask and a bunch of others.

Why did you pick what you picked?

Same here.  Those games you listed are exactly the reason why.

Crazy how back then 3 mainline FF games was released within 4-5yrs while nowadays that same time frame would get you only a trailer of one FF game lol

....Maybe not even..maybe just a teaser trailer...or just an announcement of a teaser trailer lol.

2011-2015 mostly because of 2011 alone. Skyward Sword and Portal 2, gg.

Also some of the best ever Pokémon games releasing during this period, DKC Tropical Freeze, Smash 4, Ori and the Blind Forest, etc.

Unpopular pick, I guess. But it's the time I was personally more excited about in gaming in general.

On the poll? Hard to say. I'm split between 1986-1990 and 1991-1995.

But if I were to make my own 5-year range. I'd say 1988-1992. I mean, look at these games:

1988

NES: Contra,  RC Pro-Am, Double Dragon, Metal Gear, Life Force, Adventure Island, Blaster Master, Super Mario Bros. 2, Bubble Bobble, Zelda II: Link's Adventure, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest

Arcades: Ghouls & Ghosts, NARC, Altered Beast, Splatterhouse

1989

NES: Ninja Gaiden, Gyruss, Adventures of Lolo, The Guardian Legend, Mega Man 2, Faxanadu, Dragon Warrior, Ducktales, Tetris

Genesis: Ghouls & Ghosts, Golden Axe, Thunder Force II, Revenge of Shinobi

Arcades: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Strider, Final Fight, UN Squadron

1990

Arcades: Smash TV, 1941: Counter Attack, Aliens

1991

Who the heck is voting 2016-2020? It's a 2 year span. Is it trolling or 6 years olds that just got their first console?

Probably everyone who accepts that 2017 was the greatest year in gaming (it's simply the truth) and outclasses every other 5-year span on that alone. I know I'd probably vote on it if it was 2020 now, even if there weren't other great games coming out in these next few years (which there are).
