Forums - Sony Discussion - God of War updates

Was updating the game and found it strange the updates are divided and not counted together, made me remember the PS3, but ok.

I got the first 1.2GB update done and a 6.2GB one started, after a while (4 hours total counting since I booted the game) I decided to give my PS4 a rest and paused the 6.2GB update to get to it later (now) before I went to sleep to let it download overnight (yes you might have noticed my connection speed is shit beyond shit).

When I got to it, the download would pick up at a cumulative of the total updates counting from the amount it already had downloaded, which is how it has always worked here for me, but as soon as it picked up to restart the download the numbers disappeared and the update file started "copying" which I've never seem before and skipped all the updates from 1.11 (the 6.2GB it was starting to download when I paused it) and went straight to the newly released 1.17 (it was 1.16 when I started it all yesterday), it was a quick 30MB one, it downloaded, installed and then it said the game had the most recent patch installed, I turned it off and on again and it kept saying it had no more updates to download.

Did I just skipped all those patches? I fucking want them, don't want my PS4 sounding like a jet like it was (the noise put Uncharted 4 to shame) deleted the game, lost about 6 precious hours and now I'm back at the 1.2GB one (1.10).

What the actual fuck just happened?

I downloaded the game 2 nights ago and I checked the updates list and it’s had 1.11, 1.12, 1.13 and 1.14 ( they were all latest ones) however im not sure it has actually patched them, I noticed one of 1.12 patches was “small text” in the menus but some of the text is still really small. The only problem is, I don’t know what it looked like before so I don’t know whether it is actually bigger than it was.

Lots of little updates so far. The game was gold a month ago which let them start work on patches early. Good that Sony gave them enough time.

And that shit happened again.
Got a cannot download, should have checked the error.
Tried to get back to the download and it did that copying shit again and then said the latest version (1.17) was already installed.
Fuck this shit, can't believe I'll have to play without the actual patches installed. It had to happen this random shit exactly with GoW didn't it? I'm so fucking mad.

Instead of getting angry over this, why not just go to the game , press triangle, and take a look at the patch notes.

If you have the latest version then you have the latest version.  Theres nothing most of us can suggest unless you can actually verify that you game doesnt have updates from the patches you supposedly missed.

And if for some reason you dont, then just delete the game data and let it reinstall the patches.

EDIT: if you were on 1.16 and the latest is 1.17, then the 1.17 patch is the only you need to download.

I'm not angry, I'm fucking mad.

The download completed a 1.2GB update (1.10), was paused with 50MB of a 6.2GB update (1.11), restarted later and it startet copying, downloaded just 32MB more that was the 1.17 patch and it said it's done... what about all those 6.2GB I had to download? And updates 1.12, 13, 14, 15 and 16?

I deleted the game, tried again, got a cannot download during the 6.2GB update this time, did not pause it like last time, tried to get the download back from the download error message, it started copying, when completed it said 1.17 was installed, even though it failed at 1.11, again.

The system thinks it has all updates but it only has 1.10 and 1.17 and a bit of 1.11, it never downloaded anything else, but it think it did.

How do I find fix something like that? The worse is that it takes me more than 4 hours to get back to that point over deleting and starting over to just try again for a third time... fucking shit.

When I boot the game on, during the menu screen, PS4 goes wild like a jet, like it'll explode, exactly like jason was complaining here before patch 1.12 or so.

I'll have to play the game without a lot of corrections it needs as the devs realized and tried to fix.

Usually I wouldn't even care, but it's very horryfing to play without a patch that addresses my PS4 going wild if there is one...

So, are the updates that are missing indeed not actually in the game besides the PS4 Pro Sound?

Get into boot mode and Rebuild Database. Perhaps delete patches before rebuild database (so you dont have the latest installed). See if that helps

Ive got a feels by I could possibly have the same issue, even though in the update history for the game has all the updates listed, I think it may not have actually patched them. As I said before the writing in the menu is very small.

Is there any chance somebody could screenshot the text on the updated text so I could compare??

I want an update that stops my Pro from sounding like it's gonna take off into space.

I believe you can change the text size, after update 1.12 rather than it changes automatically. Any who the jet engine sounds should go away after a few hours anyway if you are playing on pro. They stopped with me before I defeated the first troll. Hardly a spoiler since he is in the E3 or PSX trailer.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar
