As I've said in a previous thread, some games did very well when they went into new genres.
EX: Metroid successfully becoming a first-person-shooter with Metroid Prime, or Mario going from 2D to 3D platformer.
But there are still some games out there that haven't tried certain genres, and I was wondering what it would be like if they did.
EX: What if Star Fox went from a rail shooter to an open world spaceship shooter, or if Punch-Out became a 2D Tournament Fighter?
I'm not saying these games have to permanently change genres (Mario and Metroid sure didn't), I'm just wondering how they'd do in different genres than their original installments.
What game franchises would you like to see in a new genre, and which genre?
