Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Kirby Star Allies is fastest selling Kirby game in UK chart history

Looks like Kirby Star Allies is not a flop after all...

Kirby: Star Allies debuted at N°2 in the Top 10 (All Platforms), according with UKIE/GfK Kirby Star Allies It's actually the fastest-selling boxed Kirby game released ever, and there have been 19 Kirby retail titles since 1996.

Previously, the highest charting Kirby games was Kirby Triple Deluxe (2014) on 3DS and Kirby: Planet Robot (2015) also on 3DS. Both games reached 15th place. The series has been gradually increasing in popularity, although the demand for new Switch products - coupled with a quiet release week - are two big reasons Star Allies has appeared so highly this week.

Nice to hear, its a fun game.

Do we have numbers?

So basically, the Switch now has the fastest selling Zelda, 3D Mario, and now Kirby. If this trend continues with Pokemon... Oh god, that thing's gonna be a monster.

Yep .A Monster is on Horizont

Thats awesome news. Even though the game looks horribly bland to me, I hope people have fun with it.

Something that I'm more interested in is.....

"EA's Burnout Paradise Remastered is the best-selling physical game of the week, which means the title returns to No.1 ten years after it last claimed the top spot in January 2008."

Come on EA, ditch Need for Speed and make a new burnout instead....and its clear many people would buy it as well....

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Ehhhhh .... not really.

Despite the fact that Pokemon Sun and Moon are literally the fastest selling games for Nintendo ever in the U.S. and Europe they are both expected to sell around the same amount of units as you'd expect from a Pokemon title. Of course, I think they would have sold about 2-3 million more than X and Y had Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon not come out ... but even then that was with a huge marketing push from a new mobile game, and X and Y was ALSO one of if not the fastest selling Pokemon game before that too ... just like how Kirby saw a gradual increase in appeal with Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot.

In other words, it just seems like consistency in people buying games faster than before, and gradual increases in total sales. I do think that Pokemon Switch will have an increase in sales regardless, but it's not going to automatically be a monster if an article comes out saying that it's the fastest selling Pokemon in X and Y region.

So, I wonder how many copies that ends up being, then.

Yoooooooooooooo.

All in all, it is still impressive for the UK.

Since the Switch is also a portable, would that make it a "pocket monster"?  ;)

On topic, that is great to hear.  The game is a lot of fun.  Playing it with my stepson, and occasionally my wife, and it is a blast.
