With the new site poll I realized how utterly under rated Bandai namco as a publisher is. They have brought us one of the most prolific RPG's in history, The witcher 3, brought a crowd funded racing sim, Project CARS to well over 2 million in it's first few months, kept the souls series alive and in good enough health to spawn an entire genre, They continue to bounce indie games and smaller double A titles into fame and they have brought us fighting games done right, namely Dragon ball fighterZ. And all this without invasive microtransactions or fractured DLC instead opting for an approach of content filled expansions and content worth the money.
They don't rely on whales to make there business run but keep their feet firmly on the ground choosing IP's for their merit and not to create a live service to milk gamers. They don't cut content, instead release full games and then add to them later based on demand. It's a simply approach but one that I think should be recognized now more than ever by gamers and applauded.
EA, Ubisoft, ActiBlizzard and others who follow these financial trends are treading on ground that might collapse bellow them if any of their financial bubble burst. They continue to buy up developers and then dissolve them shortly after they work them so hard they destroy the devs passion. Yet Bandai Namco continues to pave their way forward with concrete
Bandai Namco may not have the most popular roster of game at hand but they damn sure deserve to be praised for their work in gaming and their control of the greed that overtakes most other publishers of their caliber. Here's a list of what they have brought us before and after they merged.
Most notably to this generation.
The Witcher 3,
Project CARS 1 and 2
Dark souls 3,
Ni no kuni 1 and 2
Dragon ball xenoverse 1 and 2,
Dragon ball fightersZ
Tales of series,
And as users here pointed out they have a working relationship with Nintendo and are developing Metroid prime 4.
Some hefty titles there but there are much more smaller AA and licensed titles that they profit nicely off without ever pushing their costumers or relying on whales to fund onwards.Last edited by John2290 - on 18 March 2018
