Forums - General Discussion - Cheating in relationships

Just want to know what's your opinion on cheating?

Would you ever excuse it?

What do you consider cheating?

I'm in a bit of a mess soooo just want to know...

Edit: For those who want to know, I kinda cheated on my girlfriend. I made out with a girl in a party but I stopped it from going any further and thankfully we didn't have sex and thankfully my friends stayed quiet about the situation, I was drunk out of my mind and did some stupid drug and she kinda dragged me to kiss her, I know it sounds like an excuse but it's true. I didn't tell my girlfriend and I told my friends to be quiet and I swept it under the rug. Never went to parties since, not my kind of thing, don't want to get crazy and I like spending time in a more intimate and small space with small groups of friends rather than a crazy, epileptic puke smelling place.

So a few months later, I see the girl in my school for some project and wow is it killing me inside when I'm right in front of her with my girlfriend because now there's risk of it being dug up again and I don't want her to find out any other way but from me. She doesn't have a lot of friends besides me thankfully but the occasional girl gossip can reach her and I don't want that.

Is that cheating? Come on, that can't be cheating, right?

Did you cheat on someone or got cheated on? Either way, end the relationship.

Cheating is fine just dont get caught

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Strongly against it.

Can't cheat/be cheated on if you are never in a relationship in the first place.

Someone seems to be looking for an excuse for the mistake he/she made...

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

No excuses in regards to cheating.

Inexcusable. Relationship should be over, no exceptions.

It all comes down to trust.

If the agreement is to not cheat then obviously don't cheat. If someone cheated on me when we decided to not be open, then I wouldn't be able to trust them anymore. Thus although I might still stay with them, I wouldn't be able to justify that we have the most trusting relationship in that aspect. And they would certainly tempt me to push for a more open relationship with regards to sex.

TLDR: Its inexcusable trust wise but compromises can be made.

It's usually a pretty severe violation of trust and needs to be handled as such - and this is coming from someone who's not very strict about traditional morals. This is just about trust and showing some basic respect for the other party. For all I care, even open relationships are fine as long as both parties have agreed to it, but cheating is far from fine.
