Forums - Gaming Discussion - TTG - possibly the worst dev

If other people like their games, that's totally fine with me. I'm not someone who demands that every developer cater to my desires. However, I was pretty excited about their take on Borderlands and it was my first venture into that territory.

When I hit the "combat", I was done. I'd rather there not be any combat at all than to slog through QTE after QTE. I quit right there and will probably never buy another TTG release. What they do is not for me.

For the longest time, I felt like everyone was praising TTG to the high heavens, but I'd never been interested in trying out any of their games. I kept hearing the writing was great and the interactivity really made you feel a part of the story.

Once the first Batman game came out, I figured I'd give it a shot since I enjoy the source material, and holy crap it was one of the worst written pieces of garbage I've ever had the misfortune of spending my time on. Add to that the gameplay was basically nonexistant (which I'd been prepared for, but still), the interactivity didn't seem to actually change anything, and technical issues were all over the place.

I strongly doubt I'll ever try another of their games again, because not only are they faulty as hell at most things, which people openly admit, but their supposed saving grace being the writing was beyond terrible too. Maybe it was just that particular game, but I saw it get good enough reviews anyway so I'm assuming it's par for the course with their titles.

I dunno man, some of the choices really stood out!

I don’t understand why they got so much praise.  I personally recommend other gamers to not play their games, and that’s not something I usually do.

Again, I've only played their first Batman game and thought it was terrible, based on that I don't understand either. Maybe their other games were better, but based on this thread it doesn't sound like it...

Tales from the borderlands was pretty fun as like an interactive story

Buying order: Switch, better pc

It's probably cause the reviewers put people who enjoy these licensed IPs in charge of these reviews ...

In other words, critics obviously do show extreme forms of favoritism for certain pieces of content. Telltale is obviously just a one trick pony where most of their other games wouldn't stand up to a real test of scrutiny aside from The walking Dead series and even that game has many flaws ...

Tales, The Wolf Among Us and Walking Dead were the only good Telltale ‚games‘, as far as I‘m concerned.

That's what you get for playing this kind of things instead of the masterpieces I recommend you!

No one really needs to play these things anyway. It’s the only games where watching a let’s play is totally sufficient.

Nobody really needs to play any game for that matter, but we do it because we enjoy it.

The games I've played (The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead season 1) were decent. In TWAU I felt like my choices mattered to some degree, not so much in TWD. I like the kind of art direction they're using but the actual art is highly unpolished and sometimes look like the result of a five minute session in Paint.

I don't hate or even dislike TTG (I do have a couple of games that I'll most likely play through and I will buy more games in the future) but I don't regard them as a particularly great studio either. The level of polish is just not good enough
