Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why is the NINTENDO switch selling so WELL?

Games, launching Zelda, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Splatoon and a new IP Year one will do that, not even "year one" first 8 months.

Top Games, console design, marketing, decent price point, portability, going back to an older Nintendo formula people are thirsting for (more expansive games instead of more linear ones).

Add to that, the ability to port games from a console nobody played and make it seem like a new game

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

They made a portable console. It plays to their best strengths as history has shown with the handhelds. It was a good move by them and I have enjoyed the switch as well.

In all honesty. It's a couple of reasons.

- They nailed the marketing. They focused more on an older audience. That way they targeted what can be perceived as people who grew up with Nintendo. Kids want to emulate older teens anyway, because that's whats cool.
- One of the best launch games ever.
- Great positioning in the market. They were right in making it a hybrid system. It sets itself apart from both markets that way, but also fills them.
- Great software output first year. 1st, 3rd and indie software.
- All these points have the hype rolling. Hype is important.

I'd say that the reason is Nintendo Labo
