Forums - Gaming Discussion - VR Story time: How I saved a stranger from the VR Hate

This thread stumbled in VR.

Ok ok I had my fun. Apologies mods. I'll back down.

Is there a longer version of this? I'm impressed that he actually bounces off the table and on his arse ingame. Who could have guessed that people would be falling over themselves for Wii Play in VR?

1. Sure you can't consider everyone that doesn't like something or speak against it to be trolls... still if you can verify that someone is a fanboy trolling VR then he is moderable.

2. If someone is being very negative about a product they swear to own, asking for proof is valid, one of the easiest to check is their trophies.

1. Sure, there are common sense ways to detect trolling.  My point still stands though.  There are individuals here in this very thread who should never be mods. Individuals who are very very biased for the VR tech.  So much so that their fairness would be non-existent.

2. So what about the people who just play on Vive/Oculus?  What about those who tried their friend's headset?  Moderate people for acting like dicks.  Don't moderate them because they're critical of VR, whether they've even tried it or not.  Members with hurt feelings and yelling "troll fanboy" all the time is not a reason for moderation of people who are expressing their opinions.

1. Most users shouldn't be a mod, and usually being to aligned with any company won't make the person a good mod.

2. From what I know Steam games and others also have gamertag of sorts. Most of the self called through experience in VR cames with the excuse "I tried on my friend" or "I don't have to prove to you". So saying you didn't like the experience you had is ok, but when you go the lenght of bash the entirety of something and can't back your claim it usually means a troll or flammer. Also don't forget that VGC while accepting excessive positivism about any platform or game doesn't tolerate excessive hate.

Mine is Sony 65XBR855C, it is quite good but isn't a Z line.

The 855C? So a foreign 850C? Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the OLED in the VR looked better than that, but the 930E is in a different weight class than the 850C.

Yes, Brazilian version of the 850C.

The image of the 850C is thousand years better than on the VR. It's more about the experience that look like something bigger than 300" and total immersion that makes some games and 3D move better on it.

How about us that diss VR and did try it? Because I played a few PSVR games for about an hour and they made me physically ill, so I hope you can understand why I don't like VR and never want to touch it again. PSVR: all the fun of the motion sickness.

Did you read my comment after the bold part?! I too get motion sickness easily but at least I understand how revolutionary it is and can see that it the future in gaming and entertainment!

Like Habam said, you're one of those that is FOMO : fear of missing out.

Who cares if anything is "revolutionary"? And, actually, VR isn't even revolutionary because first VR devices were released during 80's. I buy something AFTER it has been proven to work and, so far, current devices just aren't worth the money. I have tried VR but wasn't impressed even though I didn't get motion sickness. I'd rather wait 3-4 more years than buy unfinished technology. And I think that I miss out absolutely nothing due to waiting. Actually, those who buy early devices could miss out more than those who wait.

I play games to have fun, not for being "revotionary". If you can't fun with device then the device is worthless. I wouldn't buy VR if cause me motion sickness.

Btw. "Missing out" is idiotic reason to buy anything. You buy something what YOU want or need. Who cares about the rest of the world?

Best post in the thread. Fully agree.

You seem to hold a lot of negative emotions within you.

Concept and execution are really needed for it to be revolutionary, so the early tries of the 80's hardly count anything. And sorry that you didn't had any good experience, but RE7, DC VR and Rush of Blood are fantastic experience, batman is decent as well.

And FOMO isn't you buying something because you fear missing it, it is more on the opposite... since you can't buy it you dismiss it because thinking about you not being able to experiment generate the fear so you need to justify it isn't worth.

1. My original point was for a specific user, and a specific type of user.  That still hasn't changed.  We're just talking in circles now. I don't really have much else to say on the matter.

2. I'm seeing more aggression coming from the pro VR side of things, to be honest.  It's actually quite childish how some are acting.  This thread itself started out as some kind of victory against a made up enemy like "VR Hate" or whatever.  And given there have been multiple bans against that "side", I'm going to guess I'm not the only one to see it that way. There are certain users who need to learn the difference between fact and opinion, and how to deal with differing ones from their own.  If they act that way in the real world, things are going to be bumpy for them in life.

I feel like I just read a church sermon...

I was actually in church when all this hoopla went down. Thank God I wasn't here then. I'd be spewing hate.

Truly the feel good story of the year. Assuming one of the major motion picture companies have not beat me to the punch, I would love to speak with you about acquiring the movie rights to this tale of lies, betrayal, despair, and redemption.

Should we start taking bets on how long until habam is permabanned?

Wow.

On topic: VR is fine but like all things, it needs time to grow. It's also the games. The games are always what drives gaming hardware forward. VR as a whole still needs a megaton killer app.

VR needs way better tech as well. And even then i would prefer to play a majority of games without, which would make it a gimmick in the end.
Right now VR is interesting, but far from where i would want it to be in many ways. I definitely wont be spending money it for several years. Though it might actually be dead by then.
