Forums - Movies Discussion - Fox reportedly working on a Kitty Pryde (X-Men) Solo movie

Here is what we know so far:

-The movie will reportedly be directed by Deadpool director Tim Miller and is in active development

-Fox is pursuing new projects like this one in case the Disney deal doesn't go through

-It will be the first time Fox has attempted a solo superhero movie with a female main character since 2005's disastrous Elektra

-A solo Kitty Pryde movie has been pitched to Fox twice before; in 2009 by Joss Whedon, who said that Fox wasn't interested at the time; and in 2013 by Juno Director Jason Reitman

-It is unknown who will play Kitty Pryde, though Ellen Page said in 2013 when she heard about the prior pitch for a Kitty Pryde solo movie that she would love to play Kitty again

-Colossus from Deadpool and X-Men: Days of Future Past will reportedly appear in the movie as Kitty's love interest.

-Disney could block the movie from happening if the Disney-Fox merger goes through, but it will take another 12-18 months for that merger to be approved, so enough progress may be made on the movie in the meantime for Disney to allow it to release.

-Tim Miller is currently attached to the 2019 Sonic the Hedgehog movie as an executive producer and to 2019's Terminator 6 as director, so his busy schedule may prevent the movie from making enough progress to ever see the light of day.

Didn't the Disney deal already go through though?

Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702

It has to be approved by the government first.

Yep, as irstupid said, the merger still has to be approved. The approval process is expected to take 12-18 months, and the merger could end up being blocked due to antitrust laws.

Interesting, hope they can make enough progress for the movie to be finished/released regardless of what happens with the Disney deal then.

Same here, I really like Kitty Pryde, especially with Ellen Page playing her. Tim Miller's busy schedule though, working on Terminator 6 and the Sonic the Hedgehog movie both for 2019, could complicate matters though and slow up production enough for for the Disney merger to be approved before the movie is finished.

Hope the deal goes through so Fox and stop with their horrible super hero movies ones and for all.

..and then I hope Disney will stop the production of the Gambit movie before Fox makes the Gambit character look bad.

Eh. I will always see her as a side character.

The real star is Magik.

I agree with you on Gambit since Fox already screwed him up once in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but this Kitty Pryde movie has actual potential.

I dont disagree that this has potential, but I'd just prefer of Disney to start off the entire X-men franchise on a fresh start rather than having these off-movies that likely wont have any future tie-ins.  And then once Disney gets the ball rolling on X-men then they can do these individual spin offs.
