" Switch is selling faster than Wii for the firsts 10 months since launch".

"Switch sales are very Satisfied, and we are confident in 2018 success thanks new and important games like Kirby Star allies, Bayonetta 2, Dragon Quest builders, a new game from the Yoshi and a quality line up including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild, game of the year at The Games Award, Super Mario Odyssey, the best family game, but also ARMS, SPLATOON 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2"

So Switch is doing quite good in Europe too, and this disproves widespread belief that somehow UK is most representative if we talk about Europe market for Nintendo.

Just yesterday I read that the Switch was supposedly selling absolutely horrible in Europe. But that's the thing, it's not selling horrible, it's selling great. Just not as great as the Playstation 4, which is doing amazing in Europe.

As for why (at least in the UK): Interest in games on the whole is pretty much just Fifa, CoD and GTA.

No one thinks that. Everyone knows how poor  UK is a poor market for Nintendo, unlike other european countries like France (always been full of Nintendo fans)

Considering that the popuation of Europe is a lot bigger than the US or Japan, Nintendo is still doing relatively bad in Europe. However, since they're definitely making progress, it doesn't make any sense to say that the Switch is selling horribly.

Well germany, France and Italy all love Switch, just UK its struggling abit. Nintendo has alsonstruggled in UK though when i was a Kid everyone had Master system and mega drive. Oh except Gameboy, everybody had one of those but noone had SNES

Actually, UK is a very average market. About 1/7 sales in Europe are from the UK. There are about 65 million people living there, which is less than 1/10 out of all Europeans. Even if we ignore eastern Europe, UK is just slightly below average.

Of course there are countries like France where Nintendo's doing a lot better, but there are also countries where they're basically non-existant.

You are wrong, we often have situations where UK sales for Nintendo HW and SW are using like proof that console is not selling good in Europe or that some game bombed just beacuse is not sold good in UK first week.

When you look population of market compared to number of sold consoles, Europe is easily weaker market compared to US and Japan for Sony also, but that doesnt mean that some console is selling bad, especially if we know that Switch is selling better than Wii in Italy or selling on pair with Wii in Germany and France for instance. So you cant say that Switch is doing bad in Europe in any case.

Switch has been doing well in france and germany as well. If I remember correctly in spain the switch was tracking ahead of the wii and even the PS4 on launch as well, with 45k units sold through. but we haven't gotten numbers since then.

Not sure how it is tracking in france compared to the wii, but Nintendo expected to outsell WiiU lifetime sales (800k) by now I think.

Do we have any numbers for Wii first year in france, italy and germany?

The funny thing is that, even in the UK the switch isn't doing badly by any stretch. It is not very far from how well the PS4 was doing in the same time frame.......infact, if 3rd parties like EA stay on it and it gets the next COD and FIFA, it will take quite some software sales from Sony due to its hybrid nature.
