Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo v Sony. War of attrition.

Sony's days are numbered due to this simple fact.

Nintendo can stay 'below' Sony and succeed but Sony can't 'out Nintendo' Nintendo.

It doesn't matter what's possible in the future, this simple fact leads to Nintendo winning eventually. Nintendo can do a VR, a PS4 level, PS4 Pro level, XB1X level home console without concern. They might only sell 10M but it doesn't matter. Nintendo has an impenetrable wall around them that Sony can't counter meanwhile Sony is open to attack from Microsoft, Nintendo, PC gaming or a totally new competitor.

Sony CANT counter Nintendo but Nintendo has all the time in the world to go against Sony.

Japan is where the battle will be fought and when Nintendo wins, Sony will only be able to compete on price and 3rd parties.

When Nintendo overcomes this, Playstation (as we know it) is dead.

As a Nintendo fan, and partially a Sony fan...I ask you to please stop. I love Nintendo but Sony isn't going to end the PS4 or the Playstation Brand because of Nintendo. Sony and Nintendo have overlap of demographic at times, but most of the time they have totally differing demographics.

What we fail to understand is because of this, Sony has amassed amazing business partners, connections, and their own 1st party is very formidable. They have their own army of titles, and Nintendo has theirs. While it's true, Nintendo really doesn't have any true competitor yet,  that doesn't mean they're unstoppable or don't experience competition from Sony or Microsoft.

Whatever Reggie, or Nintendo fans think that Nintendo is in their own world is somewhat understandable. But to believe that they aren't affected by other hardware is ignorant. PS won't die anytime soon, Nintendo won't die anytime soon. Why do we need to throw senseless punches at each company? They're both doing great, hell even Xbone is finding its place. This is good for the market, the market is healthy.

Microsoft showed that a new competitor can easily cut Sony in half while having no/minimal effect on Nintendo. Times change and there's nothing to stop Nintendo trying the 360 v PS3 approach.

Even if they fail they're still in the game. Any home console Nintendo makes from here on out will be a prototype of their next hybrid. If they can sell 10M of a demo unit they win either way.

But why does that only apply to Nintendo?

Because nobody's come close to matching their dominance in the handheld market. Nintendo's going nowhere unless someone forces them out and nobody can force them out.

Well nobody really comes close to Sony in the console market...

Except when Microsoft cut them in half and Nintendo outsold both?
