Forums - General Discussion - Any Dietitians in the house?

Okay I just purchased a blender. With a blender I bought over $150 worth of fruit and $30 worth of vegetables (fruits more expensive). How healthy is it to throw a bunch of fruit and veggies in a blender (along with protein supplements)? Can I overdue it? What else should I grab in my diet?

This blender is amazing, I no longer need to chew my food.

You have to count them micronutrients, that’s sugar and random protein powder mixed together..... also you have to have a goal towards achieving something, you can’t just be like today I’m going to eat fruits and protein so I am healthy

Blended fruit and vegtables are equally healthy as normal fruit and vegtables. However, it will lose a lot of nutrients if you wait too long. Try to drink your smoothie as soon as possible after you blended it. Also, try to blend shortly (you can cut your fruit into pieces before blending it). If you blend too long, it will get too hot and it will lose some nutrients.

It really depends on what your objectives are. Do you want to build muscle? Lose fat? Or both?
If you just want to eat healthy stuff then sure, you can have 2-3 shakes a day or even more, just don't add sugar and/or alcohol.
Also, don't take more protein than the amount your body needs, it would be a waste of money (good supplements are not cheap) and useless calories. As a rule of thumb, don't go over 0.8g of protein per Kg of body weight in a day if you're working out, less than that if you're not.

Don't forget your healthy fats and whole grain carbs. Your body needs those as well.

Fruit is good for you, but high in sugar. If your goal is to lose weight, you should limit your consumption to what is necessary.

$150 in fruit? WTF? Either you bought a truckload of fruit or it must be stupidly expensive where you are!

Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702

Some fruit is a lot more expensive than others. Apples are €2-3/kilo, while blackberries are over €20/kilo.

So he probably bought 7 kilos of blackberries.

I think I bought 3.75 lbs of blueberries (1.7 k). Bunch of different fruits for different prices.

Wow. So foreign. Is the E shape a Euro and 7 kilos well I cannot get to google to find out without my page erasing so... Double 7 pounds?

Apples can be expensive anywhere if it is the wrong store. Also Jack fruit and dates are expensive as well but taste so good.

Also where I am from originally,  in Washington State,  apples are incredibly cheap,  so it just depends on where you are at.
