Forums - Sales Discussion - PS4 just hit a new milestone in Europe

The Playstation 4 is now the 7th best selling console in the old continent, sitting at 26.07 million units according to VGCHARTZ (so far).

It just surpassed the Xbox 360 but where do you think the console will ends it's course? I'm predicting 50 million units in Europe, that would put it in 3rd position behind the DS and PS2.

I'm thinking 3rd aswell, as long as Sony doesn't announce the PS5 next year.

Awesome. This great milestone shows how utterly dominant Sony are in Europe.

Bold prediction: PS4 will be the best selling console ever in the Europe when it's all said and done.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Well, the PS4 is definitely back to outpacing the PS2, at least for now. By Sept. 30, 2004, the PS2 had shipped 25.88M in Europe. Now, to be fair to the PS2, the PS4 had a far better launch, so its post-launch sales might be a bit better. In any case, the PS4 likely won't have the insane legs the PS2 (it was still selling decently well after the PS3 launch), and it will almost certainly fall short of the PS2, but for the generation proper it's doing pretty damn well. I'm thinking somewhere in the 45-50M range is where the PS4's final lifetime tally will end up in Europe, far surpassing every other home console except the PS2.
