Are you far?

Yes 23 12.92%

No 48 26.97%

I have no idea 34 19.10%

I think I am in the middle 26 14.61%

Beat the game 47 26.40%

Total:178

So I'm in the tenth kingdom, which might be my favourite after New Donk City. I just live how each kingdom feels different, not just aesthetically, but gameplay-wise because of Cappy. They're constantly introducing new gameplay mechanics, so Mario moveset is just huge and makes for tons of possibilities in the game.

So, is this game pretty short for a Mario game or is it normal that you all finish it in a day? I've only played for 2 hours and I'm flying through the game as well. It's lovely but compared to spending 170 hours on BotW this seems like a small snack?

First cloud kingdom.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Taking my sweet time with this one. Games like this don't come along every day.

I want to say im about halfway through, campaign is pretty short from what I can see, but the replay value is insane.

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

Nah, it's the longest 3D Mario I've played but only by about a few hours. If you want 100% completion I've heard 60 hours. But comparing a platformer to a huge open world Action RPG in terms of playtime isn't the best comparison. I finished it in about 15 hours yesterday.

OP:

I beat the game. I tried to explore as much as I could but I didn't really see the need to as things get a bit repetitive pretty quick. I enjoyed my playthrough of it, there were some damn amazing segments of the game, you New Donkers know what I'm talking about. Hopefully the post game is a bit more diverse.

It's a short game for people who want it to be a short game and long game for the people who want it to be a long game. Just like Botw. If you're going to just do the bare minium and skip most of the content just because you don't need to do everything to beat the main boss, it'll be short.

Like take the first kingdom for example, you only need to be their for like 20 minutes story wise, but if you don't go back and do everything you can in it you're missing out on what could be an additional 2 hours of gameplay.

If you actually play all the content in each kingdom or also get all moons it will be quite/very long by 3D Mario standards. I mean it's no RPG or anything, you're not going to get 200+ hours or anything in a Mario game like this unless you replay it a lot. I'm around 8-10 hours in and I'm on the start of 5th out of the 14 kingdoms, and I still haven't played all the content/got all the moons in the previous 4 kingdoms.

Heading for Metro Kingdom now and I have 50+ Moons. The game is freaking great so far, I procrastinated an article I had to write for work for as long as I could. My girlfriend likes to watch me play, which is always a plus. I was very sceptical of the whole Cappy gameplay but the transformations are surprisingly fun. The game looks very blurry in handheld mode though, so it's the first game on the Switch I prefer to play on the TV.

I'm about 9 hours in and at New Donk City.

This game is pure magic!

I'd say that if you breeze through the game with the bare minimum it'd take you around 10 hours to beat it, and it's actually the standard for 3D Mario games. But it seems that SMO has way more content that any 3D Mario game. And I really love Mario games post-game generally.
