Booya! I always knew FFXIV is set in the far far future of Ivalice (kind of). In the most recent event some monsters from FFXII showed up, and a NPC (Wandering Minstrel) said "those monsters were thought to be extinct" Now we get to see what happened to Rabanastre.

Return to Ivalice
In the world of FFXIV, the Final Fantasy Tactics story is a well-known fairy tale known by anyone from Garlemald. Keeping the FFT story as a base, it also has an essence of FFXII. Return to Ivalice has been designed in such a way that those who do not know either of these can also enjoy it as well. Players will enter Rabanastre as the first part of their journey.

The patch art features Ramza and Delita, and was drawn by Akihiko Yoshida.

Quit toying with my emotions, Square. You're not allowed to pull a WotL card on me just to get me to play an MMO. That's cheating.

I thought it was known (or confirmed I guess) by now that Final Fantasy XIV takes place in the same world and universe as XII's and Tactic's.

If Ramza and Delita somehow shows up, that also opens the door for the Leading Man to show up as well...as another cameo.

It was just one of those things that people just knew it in their head, but it was never said out loud. ya know what I mean?

Got excited but seems like it's more focused on FFT then FFXII... also I'm not starting a damn MMORPG just for some more FFXII, even if I really want more FFXII

Nah I think you got nothing to worry about.

In the livestream, Yoshida and Matsuno were saying that Ivalice isn't tactics only and it's about all his Ivalice games.

If only it were not an MMO, even if it is a good one
