This is probably the most sensible way to tackle NK. They don't care about foreign trade bans since the country is nearly an autarky, but foreign hard currency is something they sorely need.

Yep those few hundred American tourists not showing up anymore will surely hurt the country
Of the 4,000 to 5,000 Western tourists who visit each year, about 20 percent come from the United States

Anyway this was in May
The announcement Sunday that a man identified as Kim Hak-song had been arrested brings the total to four American citizens now held in North Korea.

People who want to go there will find a way.

What is the point of banning something no one goes to anyway? :P

Enough people go for it to be an issue.

Otto Warmbier was detained by North Korea for 17 months before the State Department secured his release. He became ill and fell into a coma while in NK custody and died shortly after being released.

Three other Americans are currently detained by North Korea.

Stuff like this is a nightmare for the State Department.

They should have known better anyway.

I'm baffled as to why any US citizen would ever want to travel to North Korea.

I say allow people to go but don't bother us if you're being tortured.

Darwinism
