A blast from the past: id didn't plan on bringing the original Doom to the SNES and didn't think it was possible.

Another dev called Sculptured Software decided to reverse engineer a port on their own initiative and sent off the result to id, who were impressed and agreed to get it published.

If you like neat retro stories like this, Digital Foundry has a number with the DF Retro series.  For example, this one about Doom's ports:  https://youtu.be/784MUbDoLjQ

Oh I'm a DF addict haha, I love their Retro episodes especially! Thanks though. :)

I didn't think there would be a direct this week, cos I'm a pessimistic dunce.

Yeah, it was an impressive port, despite the setbacks it had. A great SNES port was Super Smash TV.

The soundtrack was much improved, and using the SNES face buttons to replicate the shooting stick from the arcade cabinet made this version very enjoyable. :)

So it was a mini-direct afterall. Good stuff for me at least. More games i don't have time to play .

The Mini Direct helped raise my spirits in this difficult time. :) I'm just disappointed there was no Metroid Prime 4, but I understand that they probably didn't have a good enough build to show us yet.

So both directs happened as expected.  Are we good now?

A game of that caliber would be saved for their E3 Direct.  Though E3 itself is canceled this year, you can still expect them to host a big direct around that time.

Massimus - "Trump already has democrat support."

Bravely Default 2 making all characters and enemies do their actions instantly on their turns is a massive improvement in battle.

They didn't show SMT V or Bayonetta 3, though understandable since their announcement wouldn't fit the bill of this Mini-Direct which obviously aimed for games in the Spring season.

Do you guys think there's a chance they release their E3-oriented Direct a little earlier? Like late May, or earlier in June?
