I think so.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Terrorist attacks that occur in Europe get 24/7 media coverage and the journalists add in hypothetical scenarios on what could happen next. The media is part of the problem when they show the event on tv coverage 24/7 on continuous replay. Then you get your politicians on to claim that we are not scared, we will continue to live our normal lives and we will not let the terrorists win.

It kind of seems like it, at least here in the west. I don't know if it's very different in other regions, such as the Middle East, though. Could be a sign of weakness. They've been losing ground in their stupid war, so they attack innocent people for attention and deeper division between cultures, which could both potentially benefit them.

Well how do we fix this? All else we've been able to do is kill them, and yet still they breed like cockroaches.

Well, it would probably be a good start to stop with the ridiculous amounts of collateral damage that paints the west as the enemy. Demonizing Islam probably doesn't help either. In general, we need to ease up the tensions to prevent the creation of new terrorists. We can deal with the existing ones, painful though it might be, the problem is the recruitment of new people into terrorism. There's probaly not very much we can do about existing terrorists, although it doesn't mean we should stop fighting terrorism. What we can do something about is people getting recruited into terrorism, and that'll be the long-term solution.

Ideally, we'd stabilize the unstable regions, but I don't think anyone's going to commit to that. It's probably ridiculously expensive, not that helpful aside from easening the terrorism situation, and could require painful compromises/decisions (e.g. supporting al-Assad to stabilize Syria). I don't think the ones pulling the strings see terrorism as enough of a threat to really make those compromises and really, terrorism isn't a huge problem. It's really visible, it's bad, it's wrong, but it's also much, much less lethal than a lot of other things (e.g. traffic). Obviously we should try to act against terrorism, but considering its relatively limited effects, there's only so much we can afford to do about it.

yes and no.

Islam had killed hundreds of millions in its history. For instance the Delhi sultanate. Easily the largest genocidal regime of all time. Hundreds of millions of Hindus butchered over several centuries.

However I do believe it is on the rise compared to recent history. (say since mid 19th century).

So basically it has been much worse, but it seems worse now than it has been at times in the past.

depends on the region you are looking at

in the extended middle east (+ pakistan/india/north africa) terroristic activity is certainly much more frequent than what was recorded before

in western europe it's much less frequent than from 1970-1990

in far east europe (ukraine/russia) it probably spiked again since russian occupation, but it's recent peak could also be around the chechnya conflict in the 90s

I'm not sure about NA, but I read anti-migrant terrorism has spiked considerably since the election probably putting the total number of incidents pretty high compared to the other recent decades

The Trump administration probably denies it though, because they think only Muslims can be terrorists.

Where does this even come from.

Because that is and will most likely be the worst terror act in history.  It's your language - they aren't getting worse, they're getting more frequent.

Well becoming more frequent seems to mean it's getting worse.

I would say it means it's getting more desperate.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

No it's not, it's just returning to a normal after 20 years of unusual calm.

I guess people on this board are either americans, to young or both.

Let me refresh your memories with a couple of names that spring to my mind.

Brigado Rosso
Baader-Meinhof
IRA
ETA

EDIT:// Bonus name: Aum Shinrikyo

I think we have just right amount of terrorism.
