I read that the ones made by PDP were tested thoroughly by both PDP and Nintendo, and are officially licensed by Nintendo since they were confirmed not to damage the surface during removal.

I don't put decals on anything to be honest, but from what I've seen, the officially licensed skins are safe to use and remove without causing any damage.
