wow a difference by one point? can't believe that we have gamers on this site who believe that infamous is a better game for Them, how is that even possible :/

By critic reviews SSO is a slightly better game on average. Ill take Metacritic scores more seriously than a bunch of random internet users who probably only have 1 console.

Ahh, but I:SS was reviewed by one more reviewer.  If SO was reviewed by one more person and they thought it wasn't that great, it would be at 80, too.  Of course, 1 point doesn't mean shit.  Just like Nintendo fans flipping out because Zelda went down one point was stupid.

Though, if you go by user reviews, SO has a 78, while SS has an 81.  3 whole points.  SS WINS!!  YAY!!

I got Sunset Overdrive for free with my Gold subscription.
Played for 20 minutes, hated, with a passion.
Style over substance, a lot of "tude" (attitude).
I think that younger people would probably enjoy it, like, less than 20 years old.

While I never played the game, that's the impression I got from trailers and gameplay vids.  Definitely looks like a blast to play off and on, though.

I don't think anybody liked SO in the first 20 minutes. It eventually hooks people in though and that's why it has a lot of praise.

In a nutshell, your opinion isn't worth much from just 20 minutes. But you're still entitled to have one.

Exactly you can't honestly judge a game by only playing it for 20 minutes he does have a point about it being mostly targeted at younger people.  That being said I'm in my 40s and I enjoyed it.

I think I'm totally missing the relevance here. InFamous is made by Sucker Punch, right?! What does that have to do with SO being made by Insomniac? 2 different developers.

A lot of gamers on here saying Infamous Second Son is a better game. Its fair to have an opinion.

Let me just put this here

Metacritic

Infamous Second Son - (80)
Sunset Overdrive - (81)

Both Games seem to be sitting on similar scores slightly favouring SSO. Those saying its better.. well not review wise.

Sony wanted to own the IP and MS didn't which is why the game came out on XB1. The sequel can go anywhere unless MS purchase the rights for the 2nd one.

Microsoft needs ips. They probably asked and insomniac refused. As long as they could fill their lineup they would take what they could get. Beggars can't be choosers. Sadly they most likely find another one since it wasn't profitable. If they would've added it to their game anywhere program, we could've seen higher sales, but I guess back then they were still working out he kinks.

I just want to point out Sony funded SFV and No Man's Sky over Sunset Overdrive and they don't own either. Sony is the chooser and sometimes they make bad choices.

I bet SO is just one of countless ideas being pushed by 3rd parties, they just need funding. Finding the projects worth funding seems to be the tough part.

I'm not entirely convinced SO was a financial failure. Probably broken even over time. On the web people keep complaining about the lack of new IPs and they also complain about the lack of sequels for certain IPs. I like SO but I'm not dying for a sequel.

None of those games outshined Sonys first party. Sony funds projects outside of their own studios just like Microsoft but they dont depend upon them. They know they need to have a large and diverse library so outside of first party they have third party in healthy doses.  No mans sky got a lot of hate because the game was crowd funded. Finding worthwhile projects to fund is the problem. They should make their first party so great that third party only look like the hired, help...not the regular option for attaining IPs. Sunset Overdrive two should happen if for some reason you're correct and it turned a profit. Im really hoping it does. Thats my favorite Xbox game this gen in terms of overall creativity and replay value.

They didn't shine at all really because they sucked. SO would have shined on PS4 because it was good, really good.

No Man's Sky got hate because of it was a lie.

Even if SO did make a profit, does a sequel have potential to succeed? The audience isn't always there. Look at Halo Wars 2 and Gravity Rush 2. I'd prefer MS get behind something like Alan Wake 2 first, then SO2 down the road.

Microsoft screwed the pooch with Remedy with those sales. Remedy did the best they could exclusively for Microsoft. Glad they are going multiplat, because their IP's need to grow. Same goes for Sunset Overdrive. The game needs to go multiplat ASAP, but they chose Microsoft to be the publisher. As for Gravity Rush, I just bought the first game, so i'll probably jump on the second later. Sucks to hear about how it turn turned out. Neither Street Fighter or Sunset Overdrive sucked, its just that some genius at either Sony or Capcom decided to copy Microsofts Killer Instinct schedule. No offense, but as great as Killer Instinct is, not even Microsoft is supporting it over the big third parties. At least Street Fighter will have tournament pots. The sad part is not enough people bought in and we will now have to wait until the next game to see how well it can do. Tekken went through this same issue. Tekken 4 killed the fanfare and it followed Tekken 5. This year Tekken can really get back to where it was in the PS1 era. The only game that sucked was No Mans Sky. We could all agree on that.

Developers will continue to go with MS if MS is willing to fund their projects. Unless other major publishers are offering better opportunities and clearly that isn't always the case.

Remedy has always been multiplat, but MS gave them an opportunity to make their most ambitious games ever. I'm curious to see Remedy's new projects but I don't think they'll get the same budget away from MS.

I've heard on numerous occasions KI has tournaments and pots. I believe microtransactions have helped fund that stuff.
