Forums - Politics Discussion - Would You Date/Marry Someone With Opposite Politcal Views?

Would you?

Yes 47 28.14%

No 46 27.54%

Maybe 45 26.95%

Probably 20 11.98%

I have/am with someone wh... 9 5.39%

Total:167

Here you'll see a lot of people who are typically cool with each other be at each others in political threads. Politics is a sensitive topic. Which leads me to ask: Would you date/marry someone with opposing political views?

Personally, as long as everything else worked fine in the relationship and politics didnt negatively impacted how we saw or felt about each other and were able to respectfully disagree, I'd be fine with it. However, I speak without experience as I've never been with people with opposite political views. Closest I've gotten is I'm very anti-military/anti-war which is offensive to many people I've dated, including my gf XD

So would you?

And if you are or have dated/married someone with opposite political views, how was/is it? Does it affect your relationship at all negatively?

Considering my political views are essentially "everyone's a cunt and nobody deserves my vote", the opposite would be something like "I want to vote for everybody"? I guess that could work?

Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702

Most likely not. I couldn't be with somebody I fundamentally disagree with.

Depends

If by disagreeing you mean a nazi who hates anyone who's gay or jewish, then no.

If it's something small, then I don't mind. It'd be childish if I rejected someone if we disagreed on marijuana or whatever the heck we will disagree on

Not likely these days, at least on serious issues.

I can disagree on taxes, not marriage or enviornmental laws

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

I once dated a racist by accident x.x

My wife is full, 1000%%%% democrat and I respect that, I myself am not 100% republican but I tend to agree a lot more with the republican party than the democrat party. Needless to say is that Trump's name is forbidden in my house, lol

under normal political views, yes. under the new radical and extremist political views, no

That explains this thread

Honestly, unless they were a fascist/ethnonationalist/dominionist/absolutist monarchist* or an authoritarian-leftist/technocrat/tankie *, which tells me they likely have a very violent personality, I could probably find some common ground with them politically. I am an individualist anarchist. If I only dated people who were also individualist anarchists I definitely would die alone (I probably will die alone anyway; nothing wrong with that.)

Most people are apolitical, or marginally political. For those who are enthusiastic about politics, I think I can reason with them fine and find where we agree and disagree.

Otherwise, we'd just have to agree not to talk politics.

*I guess both of these categories are my political opposites.
