Forums - Sales Discussion - Horizon Zero Dawn beats Zelda to No.1 in UK ( PS4’s biggest ever new IP launch)

Critical smash hit The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild hasn’t made it to No.1 in its first week in the UK charts.

Instead, it’s Sony’s PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn that grabs the crown, beating Nintendo’s adventure title by a comfortable margin and becoming PS4’s biggest ever new IP launch in the process.

It’s also the biggest launch of the year so far and Sony’s biggest launch since Uncharted 4.

As for Breath of the Wild, 78 per cent of the game’s sales were for Switch and 22 per cent for Wii U. The Switch game ranks as the third biggest Zelda launch ever behind Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

Breath of the Wild accounted for 75 per cent of all total Switch software sales for the week, with two others making the Top Ten – 1-2 Switch at No.4 and Super Bomberman R at No.7. The Switch version of Just Dance 2017 also sees that game re-enter the Top 40 at No.24, although Skylanders Imaginators misses out on a Top 40 spot despite the new Switch version.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare also drops out of the Top 10, while Battlefield 1 clings on.

Here’s the UK Top 10 for the week ending March 4th:

  1. Horizon Zero Dawn (Sony)
  2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo)
  3. Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar)
  4. 1-2 Switch (Nintendo)
  5. For Honor (Ubisoft)
  6. FIFA 17 (EA)
  7. Super Bomberman R (Konami)
  8. Rocket League (505 Games)
  9. Sniper Elite 4 (Sold Out)
  10. Battlefield 1 (EA)

Horizon Zero Dawn is a masterpiece. The game is so impressive.

Even two friends, they had never a console (they were PC Only players) - have now the PlayStation 4. Now they can enjoy masterpieces like Uncharted 4, Bloodborne and all the other big games (Persona 5, The Last of Us 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Detroit Become Human, Death Stranding, Next God of War, ect) 2017/18 :)

why ppl still buying GTAV?? For Online?

Guess which console has the bigger user base at the moment.

54 million customers on PS4 vs 13 million on Wii U and less than 2 million on Switch.

So,  who can sell their software the most?

Intel Core i7 8700K | 32 GB DDR 4 PC 3200 | ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming | RTX 3090 FE| Crappy Monitor| HTC Vive Pro :3

amazing sales for Horizon. so it did really well but its sub 190k. do we know how much it sold exactly?

^^ This!

Kinda expected, it's the UK which is normally one of Nintendo's worst markets. The achievement for HZD is its own sales, which seem to be tremendously good. Not beating Zelda in the UK.

So? Zelda is a launch title and most people are gonna buy it on Switch. Its sales potential is limited, it's only logical that Horizon sold more.

Zelda is a game with legs that will sell even five years from now. It's always been that way. Instead, let's just be happy that Hotizon seems to be a hit. It looks like a great game, looking forward to play it.

The PS4 Pro is sold out in many stores in UK (& Germany, France, Usa). Really pity, Sony should produce more!

Excuse me for off-topic. I just realized people is still buying GTA V overtime which is amazing, i guess that game beats every latest games.
