PS1: Metal Gear Solid (Suikoden 2 is a close second!)
PS2: Persona 4
PS3: The Last Of Us (though personally Mass Effect 2 is the best of the generation, I just associate it more with Xbox)
PS4: So far? Bloodborne

Because it's the best game ever, pretty simple.

Was really interesting and mysterious, had an amazing story, lore and scope, great gameplay that makes you actually improve together with your chars while playing even being a turn based game, great music that I still listen to this day (even if FF was better on that), great characters (Rose and Lavitz in special), was never dull or forced any kind of unnecessary time wastes (really straight foward game, great pacing), had a lot of variety and a great sense of adventure being presented bit by bit from a feet on ground to a massive fantasy (you start saving a poor village, then breaking into a prision, then go defend a city and then a castle to stop civil war, then shit gets real and stuff from almost 11 thousand years ago start surfacing and things turn about religion, evolution, racism, and it becomes background to its fantasy).

LoD was amazing all around, and to this day, the best experience I ever had playing a game. Will probably never be topped.

PS1: Metal Gear Solid
PS2: Shadow of the Colossus
PS3: Demon´s Souls

I don´t like handhelds and will wait on PS4.

  • Final Fantasy IX - The best game ever made as far as I'm concerned, so obviously it's the best game on the platform as well. Great story, characters, music and world.
  • Honorable mentions: The Legend of Dragoon, Tekken 3, Final Fantasy VII and VIII, Grandia
  • Shadow of the Colossus - Much more difficult pick, as there are so many great games on the PS2 that I consider more or less equals.
  • Honorable mentions: Final Fantasy X and XII, Metal Gear Solid 3, Kingdom Hearts 2, Okami, Dragon Quest VIII, Persona 4
  • Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - I haven't actually played that many games on PSP. Handheld gaming just never appealed to me that much, even if did go out and get the system anyway. Then I mostly just played rereleases of older games like Breath of Fire III. Of the game I have played, Crisis Core is probably the best.
  • Honorable mentions Valkyria Chronicles 2
  • Dark Souls - My favourite game of the generation overall. Everything about the game is just flawless. Dark Souls is a game that doesn't lower its standards for players, but expects you to measure up to the bar that it sets.
  • Honorable mentions: Valkyria Chronicles, Dark Souls II, Uncharter 2 and 3, The Last of Us, Ni No kuni
  • Really early to say at this point, but at the moment Bloodborne is probably the best. Uncharted 4 and Final Fantasy XV are also very good.

You must really love FF... even 13?

PS1: Metal Gear Solid
PS2: Metal Gear Solid 2
PS3: Uncharted 2
PS4: Metal Gear Solid V

I swear I don't have some MG bias, but they just happened to be my favourite game on the Sony systems most of the time.
