Forums - Gaming Discussion - Resident Evil 7 PS4 vs Xbox One - Sony's console runs game far better

Thank God, if it didn't that would be disappointing. 🙄The Unicorns still haven't delivered Cloud Power yet, so there is no excuse.

They said the PC version is the best visually so I don't know where that came from lol

no HDR, no VR

No HDR is a dev decision, a lot of PCs have the capability, they can hook it up to HDR TVs with display port to HDMI2a if there is no HDMI2a port on the video card if they want since I don't see HDR monitors yet. The other thing is, the PS4 and X1 are using HDR-10 standards instead of the Dolby 12 bit one to save costs so we aren't even seeing the best HDR yet so I'm hoping we'll move to that in the future with all hardware or a 12 bit open source one. The VR is Sony doing some money hat business there, which is fine, so we won't see VR on PC until January of 2018 where we can revisit that part. Currently though, PSVR is definitely the best experience.

edit: they are coming though, and coming in strong and expensive as shit hahaha. 144Hz and g-sync/freesync ftw.

Not if your playing the XB1 version on your PC since its play anywhere

We'll, then you'd be playing the PC version...

This is true, but also 4k 60+fps.  I only buy the PC version of any multiplat game anymore.  I have my gaming pc hooked up to my 65" 4k in the family room and use Xbox One controllers on it.  It's nice having all of my games in Steam...not having to switch discs whenever I want to play something else is great.  Besides, the console versions of the games simply do not compare graphically.

Stop hating and start playing.

Jeez, not even 2K resolution on Pro?

I'll get the digital version on XBO/PC.

Funny you pick on the Pro while OG PS4 runs 2 times higher resolution than Xbox One 1920x1080 vs 960x1080

Has 15 fps adventage in heavy scenes

Has better AA solution.

1260p is fine and is there to ensure higher details in VR mode and not a single Frame dropped which is crucial for VR.

Sorry i expected at least 2K resolution from a Pro game :/

Its only been out 2 months, disappoints.

Anyhow, no need to get your panties in a twist over it, simply getting the PC version wih the XBO version at one price is a better option for me. I can enjoy the PC version at higher fidelity, while also having the flexibility to cross save on XBO when i feel like playing from the couch.

PC I i7 3770K @4.5Ghz I 16GB 2400Mhz I GTX 980Ti FTW

Consoles I PS4 Pro I Xbox One S 2TB I Wii U I Xbox 360 S

I rented it on XOne and it played great! I didn't notice any frame rate drops or resolution problems -- probably because I was focused on not peeing my pants

Well, the game was designed around PSVR, so it should be the best version, even if other have better visuals, the experience was molded for VR.

Once the 1 year exclusivity expires, the PC version should be with the Vive VR. Really you could say the game was more designed around VR itself, not a specific brand device.

I don't think the game was designed around VR. It was made VR compatible, for the most of it.
- There are 2D cut scenes rudely taking you out of the experience, even in the middle of boss fights
- Transitions to preset animations eg climbing ladders are not properly fitted to VR and can screw up your orientation
- You can duck and doge all you want, the game doesn't take it into account, some trip wires it clearly shows you going under, yet you still trigger it
- The floating arms don't stay with you either if you move a bit
- UI, subtitles, examined items stick through scenery if you don't position yourself properly
- Smoke/fog/fire effects rotate facing towards you, not fit for 3D
- The position of the gun in 3D is ignored. Press the gun muzzle up to something in VR and you'll miss at point-blank range.
The result is still phenomenol. But the game was not build from the ground up around VR. Advantages like full movement are largely ignored, there aren't even actual keyholes to peek through in the game (painted on) and motion control is reduced to akward rotation of inspected items. It's already the best gaming experience since half-life, can't wait to see what a full game build for VR first is going to be like.

There should be no trouble porting it to Vive. Running at 90 fps will make the analog rotation a bit better. I don't know if the pentile display is going to take some of color detail away, it's mostly muted color palettes anyway so the higher base resolution should make it all a bit more clear. The game is very dark though, works really well on PSVR's OLED screen, perfect blacks, great shadow detail.
With a beefy enough PC you should also see less dynamic resolution scaling. It probably needs to be beefy, Vive at 2160x1200x90 is 1.875x the pixel count per second of psvr at 1080p60. If you want extra detail as well as no dynamic resolution scaling, perhaps a GTX 1080 is not enough yet? Next year should be no problem.

That doesn't make any sense, games designed around platforms latter ported can be better than the platform it was designed for if the new system allows for that, what you are trying to connect here makes no sense, just because you don't like reading it was designed for PSVR, which it was.

It was designed around the PSVR, to run VR on it, and that's what it does, it being ported later doesn't change that, and really doesn't mean those versions will never compare, at all, as you know, and said PC Vive version will be better.

It's really tiresome to see you go out of yours and other people way to try to push an out of the blue PC defensive mode when there is really no need for that and nothing to do with it, just drop it.

What you are going with doesn't make any sense. Youa're attaching a stigma that I somehow don't like it because you said it was "made for PSVR", when in reality it was just designed around "virtual reality" in general, not the brand, the tech itself.

No ened to drop anything. In fact I'm tired of the notion that you seem to think it was only meant to be designed for one rbanded VR system, rather than the whole set of VR systems in general. You hold that to the end of this coversation. You should drop it if anything.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

On both platforms this is in the top 5 best lookibg ganes of the generation. The humans are probably the best Ive seen in any game.

LOL NO, I love the game but you have to be blind to think is top 5, its has horrible textures, some texutre look like PS2 era and molded also look low poly.

PS4 runs it better than X1 but not by much: you'd have to have them side-by-side to really notice. PC is definitive version though as pointed out in the video.
