If the people choose Xbox One S over PS4 or PS4 Pro SOLELY for Video Playback reasons then they are basically choosing Movies Resolution > Game Resolution (the usual 900p vs 1080p and even bigger gap between XB1 and PS4 Pro)

It's called GAMING CONSOLE I thought? I mean if you love Xbox exclusives, then surely you are going for Xbox, but choosing Blu-Ray quality over GAMES Quality, WHAT?!

I agree, but the inclusion of the new Blu-ray seems to have made a big difference. Ps4 lost 3 or 4 months in a, row in the US.

Definitely dropped the ball on this one. Most people were not expecting the Slim refresh to feature UHD blu-ray playback but most certainly did expect UHD blu ray play back on the Pro model which is considered a premium product. I might be in the minority but if it featured an UHD blu ray player I would have bought one on day one along with a 4K TV. But as of yet, I'm waiting for TV prices to come down further and technology(HDR and OLED) to improve.

Disagree.... Streaming is the future.... Physical media is falling off

Worldwide sales are what matters.

That is true. However, I want Xbox to lose here too because they have done shady things in my opinion.

Xbone isn't just a game console though. The reason it's called Xbox One, is because it's an all-in-one for input 1. TV, streaming, apps, gaming all in one device. Now it's gone further and includes 4K Blu-ray.

Yeah you are right. MS made an all in one device and sony went with a near laser focus on a gaming device........

look at all the good that did for MS.

But seriously, what happens then if sony releases a $50 4K bluray add on that works across every existing PS4 sku?

huh?

The Ps4 has been above the Xbox1 for weeks now on Amazon. If that's where you're basing your assumptions. Sure the Xb1 has more bundles on the top 100 but who knows what the sales difference are between the two. Considering the fact that the Ps4 bundle has actually jumped in the top 100 yearly charts on Amazon and even surpassed Uncharted 4 then that means the Bundle is selling WAY MORE than any other consoles and even games on Amazon. It jumped to number 9 in the yearly charts, YEARLY. And it did this jump this December so that means it sold a crap ton more this month.

And what's the highest position for the Xbox one on the yearly charts? 70th. Despite all of the discounts and such it only managed to get to 70th in the yearly charts. That means it's not selling as much and the other items it is outselling in the daily charts aren't selling as much either.

So yeah, you're wrong. Sorry. (Purely basing on Amazon charts)

Or are you trolling or something?

Add-ons don't work. Look at HD-DVD or Sega CD... and 32X 😂

I think you're looking at an old Amazon thread. Here's the current thread:

Not that ONE region changes anything much. Sony took back what MS gained in one month with Japan alone. Let's not even talk about Europe.

I agree, but Sony is not offering 4K HDR content on PS Video or PS Vue either. So they have cut off all 4K video outside of Youtube and Netflix. I would be much more satisfied if the 4K and HDR content avialable on PS Video via the Sony 4K players was downloadable to PS4 Pro.

Sony is selling a 4K media center with no access to the latest 4K media. It is just super strange and super off putting.

Two very very very very different things.

HD-DVD didn't work not because the add on failed, but because HD-DVD lost. Seag CD? damn, just too many reasons to list. You can start with it being expensive, it coming out just a year before the saturn, and it requiring its own games to even use which were few and far in between.

A $50 external 4k bluray drive that needs nothing more than a USB cable to work and has support for evet PS4 sku on the markrt is a totally different proposition.
