Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why is UC4 considered a better game than Rise of the Tomb Raider?

And what of people who like Tomb Raider 2013? I mean, I loved that game so much, it made me but a PS4 the day it released. Maybe people just like what they like or prefer what they prefer and (hopefully) any console war bs is just relegated to a minority of people.

Btw, The Order isn't even really bad in my opinion. It just had a lot of high expectations, being on of the most anticipated "real" 8th gen games.

What part of I am all ears cant you understand? I've read the replies from time to time during the day when I have had a few minutes over. But you questioning my intentions  makes me a bit angry.  They were clear as  a day. This topic has done quite fine to be honest and I have read a lot of good responses. I do understand why some think UC4 is better even though I dont agree.

I have to question your intention here, are you trolling on purpose or just trying to derail the thread? Or maybe both?

I don't know who you are and quite frankly I don't give a fuck. You saying that you're "all ears" means jack shit to me.

I'll tell you what, I'll make a thread titled "Why would anybody buy a PS4?". In the OP I'll write "XB1 is better I can't understand why people buy the PS4". I'll stand back and watch the carnage but wait, I put  "I'm all ears" in the OP so that doesn't make me a troll!!!

Say what you want but I've seen a lot of hit and run troll threads over the years and this one stinks of it. Now you can winge about it or prove me wrong and respond and participate in your own thread!

Did not know you set the rule when to reply to my own thread. No reason for you to question my intentions since you have no idea what I was up to during the day but if you wanna know I was hanging out with my kids for the most part which I have barely been able to during the last week thanks to a new job I took and simply didnt have the time to more than scim through the thread. Clearly Idont agree with what you just said and since we by the look of it cant have a discussion with a proper tone which will only lead to infractions  will just wish you a great day and take care.

I played both, Liked both but I don have an honest comparison.
Liked Tomb Raider way more because I played it on PC and it was in much better settings. Proberbly on the PS4pro it will be a simulair experience as on my PC.

Anyway, I liked the story and emotion more in UC4 but I felt like the game was a bit too slow.
On Rise of the Tomb Raider I liked the pace and more open world/side quest feel more

In the end I really disliked some of the sections from UC4 (dislike it a harsh word for sutch a great game) but I never felt a single moment of "lets skip to the good part" on ROTT but like I said I played it on my pc from 2013 which is a significantly faster experience then my ps4 (no offense) in loading times and graphics/framerate

Of all the posts this is what resembles my thoughts the most. UC4 has it's highlights and graphics is one of them - absolute stunner! I dont consider that something that makes a game better though. I also like the characters - Nathan is one of my favorites of all time - but some of the chapters feels a bit boring to do, a bit repetetive at times (It's UC after all)  I just wanted to be done with them. I never felt that way with Tomb Raider, great pace and action. It was just more fun.. more memorable for me. For the record I did enjoy UC4 more than the first Tomb Raider so it's not a franchise thing for me.

Maybe it's just me with Naughty Dog. It took me some time to realize how great Last of Us was.. It was like a month after I beat it I was still thinking about it and came to realize that I in fact loved the game.

For me it's quite easy.
Uncharted does everything better but exploration. Example, Tomb Raider Set pieces aren't actually fun to me, they're just parts I can't control to me, in Uncharted you never feel like you have no control over yourself. Also Drake's motion and movement just feel better, example. Yes it's a game but when you're using characters that Dev's want you to feel are human like drake and Laura, her Tomb Raider II jumping style doesn't work anymore. It's also like this with most of her actions, it has a mechanical or to weird flow to it. Alot of Tomb Raiders stuff feel so forced as Uncharted flows just right, no matter how calm it is one second, you feel like ohh damn let's go, but Tomb Raider makes it feel like, wtf why does this girl have the worst luck in the world but keep with the crap she does. I like Laura but it's mainly because she's a beautiful character design. I like drake because he's a great character. Gun fights just feel better on Uncharted too. I hated crafting crap etc. Uncharted perfected the type of game it is really. Tomb Raider tries to take it's style and add a survival element that some may or may not prefer. All up to you really. But the thing is, as a survival, last of us is better and as action Uncharted is better. Basically it's a great middle ground but flawed in some ways for both.

To me its not, Rise is the better game

Because of better gameplay, better story and better graphic.

A lot of people are ignoring that Tomb Raider has no multiplayer!!! That alone should put Uncharted a few marks over Tomb Raider. At the end of the day you can't push across your opinions as fact, some will prefer U4 and some will prefer RotTR and you can only discuss you reasons why one is better than the other and even go into it deeper and break it down into categories like some people have done.

But it's a fact that U4 has MP while RotTR doesn't. It's not an opinion and it's a fact. You can argue that you don't care about MP but if you look at it objectively it's still missing in RotTR. So no matter how close the campaign modes are, U4 has a huge chunk of game that is completely missing in RotTR.

Ultimately gamers and reviewers have spoken and if you can't handle that, just get over it. I swear this is like the tenth U4 vs RotTR thread I've seen.

RotTR looks like to be a solid game although I probably won't play it. I had Tomb Raider reboot with PS Plus and only played 30 mins before I got bored. But from what I can see TR and RotTR are both good games and I wouldn't smash somebody's opinion if they prefer those games. But I don't think people can argue with the fact that U4 is more of a complete package.

What OP doesn't seem to understand is how he's rubbing people up the wrong way. People will prefer U4 and to be told "I cant see a single thing that makes it a better game than Rise of the Tomb Raider" is only just going to piss people off. It's just ignorance. It's not even a well set up thread, no reasons are given why one is better than the other.

Ithink you've answered your own question. people might prefer it because it makes them feel like Rambo and the game becomes a walk in the park.

I remember in the very first uncharted, the section where you have stone ruins and enemies coming from the opposite side and from the top of a walk way, I tried using a traditional tactic. stay behind cover and shoot. it didn't work as they start flanking you and push you from cover to cover. they even use grenades to flush you out before mowing you down. the TRR on the hand had very simple A.I. I didn't dislike it, but at no point did I feel threatened or challenged. however, I feel the challenging A.I adds to character, personality of Nathan as well as the story.

Exactly. There were parts in even Uncharted 1 on crushing where I had to run for my life until I could find an open shot. Naughty Dogs AI is unmatched in the third person genre.

All 4 games had me on a pinch trying to play on crushing.

He doesn't, but the mods do. And permalite have advised you twice on first participate on your thread and second to drop this line of conversation. I haven't seem you follow any of them.

Yes, the "not a single thing" is very strong isn't it? We could say ROTR have exploration/free map plus crafting over UC4, but I still wouldn't put it above UC4 because of it.

In the middle of RoTTR right now and while it is a good game it is more complex than UC4 in a good way but the story, feel, ambiance, graphics, level structure, gun play are all on a lesser level and UC4 seems to tie itself up in one globe trotting adventure with an illusion of choice and presentation that is awe inspiring, While RoTTR is good especially with the DLC on the ps4, Uc4 is great and wraps up into an almost perfect experience that pulls you in right up until the end.

...Also, the multiplayer is a friggin ton better and apart from MGSO3 it is one of the best, rivaling that of FPS MP's.

Better gameplay, better graphics, more variety of environments, more detailed environments, better traversal mechanics, better shooting mechanics, better stealth mechanics, better characters, better acting, better script and better franchise.

Oh boy...

First of all the stealth play is a fucking bore in UC4. Its literally sneak up choke people. Tomb Raider has a bow and that makes it much more enjoyable.

Uncharted has better looking environments but its linear or wide open areas with nothing to do. Exploration in much more satifying in Tomb Raider. It has tons of side stuff as well.

The traversal mechanics are fine in both. But again, there is more to actually explore and superior puzzless in Tomb Raider.

Better gameplay in Uncharted? Endless bullet sponge enemies and linear levels is Unchated in a nutshell. The weapons are pretty much limited to pistol and assault rifle for 95 percent of  game as well. The best parts of UC4 arent gameplay.

UC4 is hands down better in story and graphics but thats really it.

The Order is kinda bad. It looks fantastic but the gameplay itself is incredibly tedious. Too story driven, cant skip cutscenes, long scenes of following people listening to dialogue, action felt too scripted in many cases, very linear, no multiplayer content, etc. The gunplay actually felt pretty good, but there isnt much of it during a playthrough. If you could skip story in The Order it would be very short.

The game got attention for presentation and people wanted a Gears experience on Playstation. But the game is genuinely bad. In fact, The Order gave me a better appreciation of Ryse. Ryse felt deep in comparison.
